Christmas is just a little over a week awaywe’re in the home stretch! For you last minute shoppers, we’ll be open the following hours: December 21-December 23, 8am - 4pm December 24 (Christmas Eve), 8am - 1pm... Starting December 25th, the Gift Shop will be closed for the holidays to give our staff a chance to relax and recharge for 2021! The shop will return to normal hours on January 11th. We can’t wait to welcome you back in the new year! In addition, with the new restrictions that came into effect on Sunday, we’re still open and following strict protocols to keep our staff, frontline workers, and patients safe. Be sure to stop by!

It’s been a long four months, and we’ve missed our customers so much. We’re happy to announce that the Friends Gift Shop is once again open to our hospital community! We will still be carrying your favourite items: snacks, drinks and the latest in clothing and gifts. To help us deliver the excellent service we’re known for, we ask the following of our patrons to assist as we follow AHS guidelines to reduce the risk of COVID-19 exposure: Patrons must follow the arrows as th...ey shop (travelling clockwise), and social distance, remaining 2 meters apart from others. All patrons are required to wear a mask (covering nose and mouth) in accordance to AHS guidelines and City of Edmonton’s bylaw, mandating that a mask or face covering must be worn in all indoor public places. Customers must use the hand sanitizer provided at the entrance. Customers will not be able to try clothes on. Until further notice, no exchanges or returns will be accepted. Our opening hours are Monday through Friday, 8am-4pm. Credit Card and Debit are preferred methods of payment for purchases. For further questions, please call 780-407-8406. Carl Beam, Traffic, 1996, silkscreen, 23/400 Within the hospital environment, staff, patients, and visitors appreciate and interpret the UAH Art Collection through their own eyes and experiences. For Heather, a U of A Hospital staff member, Carl Beam’s Traffic reminds her of childhood road trips. Each year we’d travel to the south end of the province to the provincial parks. When I saw this piece I thought about the highways I’d drive along ravens hanging around the ditche...s, and railway tracks [marked by a] dirt path that crossed over it, and a railway signal on the side. Ojibway artist Carl Beam (1943-2005) was from M’Chigeeng First Nation. Beam cleverly combined photo-documents to explore frictions between Indigenous and Western cultures. Here, the raven - a trickster figure - is contrasted against a traffic light - a modern symbol of control, time, and transportation. #yegart #CarlBeam
