Friends of Canadian Simmental Foundation 12.06.2020

*IMPORTANT NOTICE* May 1, 2020 Canadian Simmental Association Members and Supporters... Over the past 2 months Canadians have experienced many challenges and uncertainty. The Canadian beef industry, and especially Simmental breeders, have shown great resolve through these times and we thank everyone involved in making the 2020 bull sales successful, and in working so that the beef business could continue through these difficult times. The Canadian Simmental Association (CSA) has done its best to maintain its services to the industry through the Covid-19 situation and we will continue to work within the health recommendations as established from the various Government agencies across Canada. Over the past week, several Provincial Governments have announced Re-opening plans that will begin the process of resuming activities across Canada. While there are some very major differences between the plans the one consistent message is the continuance of restricting travel between provinces and the number of participants in public gatherings for at least a few more months. With this in mind the CSA and the Manitoba Simmental Association (MSA) have decided to cancel this year’s Canadian Simmental Convention and Young Canadian Simmental Association (YCSA) National show that was to be held July 23rd to 26th in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba. This was a difficult decision as the MSA has put a great deal of effort into the planning of the event, however in fairness to the MSA and their many sponsors, the CSA and MSA agreed that moving the event to July of 2021 was the best option for all involved. While we know this will be a disappointment for many we feel this is in the best interest of public health and safety while providing the best opportunity for a successful convention in Manitoba. We thank the MSA for their work on the Convention and look forward to joining them for a fantastic Canadian Simmental Convention in 2021. The CSA board of directors has decided that we will still hold our Annual General meeting via an internet format on July 25th and registration details will be made available through our CSA website and e-news, as well as Facebook and Twitter by June 15th. Sincerely, Garth Rancier President Canadian Simmental Association
