One day (April 30). One trail (Rawson Lake). Two awesome ladies (Catherine & Roslyn, who may or may not be Friends members, but are wonderful anyway). And they collected a bag of JUST dog poop bags from the side of the trail. If you want to make K-Country sustainable, and have a dog, either learn how to handle it’s waste, or don’t bring it. We were out today, marking sections for tomorrow's big roadside cleanup day on Hwy 40 through the core of Kananaskis. Over 100 volunteers will be coming out! If you have helped with this before, expect different protocols at the start of the day to keep you distanced for COVID restrictions. Stay tight with your cohorts, and everything will work great! If you're working some "higher number" sections (in the 29-31 area), expect to find a little bit of snow in the ditches. We ha...d many, many, many more people put up their hands to help than we could accommodate this year. We love to see your energy for events like this where you can bring the family and give back to K-Country. Stay safe, stay well, and have fun tomorrow!

In a press conference held April 27th at the Kananaskis Emergency Operations Centre, Environment Minister Jason Nixon announced the implementation of the Kananaskis Conservation Pass. The pass comes into effect on June 1, 2021, and is applicable to all of K-Country. A single day pass will cost $15, and an annual pass (valid for 365 days from when purchased) will cost $90. It will be implemented by the use of automated license plate screening. Through, non-stop traffic, will not require a pass. Further information, including a video of the announcement press conference, can be found at the below link. https://www.alberta.ca/release.cfm

Meet a common K-Country critter for this #WednesdayFriendsDay the Pine Marten, more correctly called the American Marten. Winter's a great time to see their evidence in K-Country forests! https://kananaskis.org/pine-marten/
