Follow up on one of the children sponsored by Friends of Serviam Dear Friends of Serviam: I have just returned to the Office after a long Board meeting. Hopefully this account will not be too late. I am sending some of the marks and remarks of Justin's last report.... English Language 84....Justin is enthusiastic and participates readily. He makes sure to complete given tasks quite well. English Literature 70 ... Justin is a strong student. He must remember to use a homework book to document his assignments. Geography 80 ... Justin continues to work well in class.He would benefit by doing regular revision. History 74... Justin has worked well . Integrated Science 84 ... Justin has worked diligently in Science this term. Well done ! Spanish 86... Justin has demonstrated enthusiasm and diligence in his approach to Spanish . Social Studies 85... Justin has a firm grasp of all the concepts of this subject. Over the years, our organization has helped many children from various schools in the caribbean and Guyana, who had the ability but not the means to get a better education and achieve their full potential. We pay for school fees and a range of other things such as the purchase of uniforms and textbooks, transportation and nutrition program. The funds we have raised over the last 30 years have allowed us to purchase computers, visual aids, Reading Programme textbooks, and libr...ary books. We have even assisted with the payment of a teacher’s salary. The Friends of Serviam is also one of a group or organizations which assists the Canada-Guyana Outreach Program in support of their medical teams who travel to the interior of Guyana to provide medical assistance to those who would not otherwise receive this help. We are pleased that 100% of the funds raised go towards these educational causes because we have no administration costs. Our organization has also been a supporter of the The Child Sponsorship Nutrition Program of the Marco Depestre Foundation of Ottawa and their work in support of the Maro Verger School in Sourthern Haiti. The program provides nutritional supplements for the children, which in turn helps them to focus on their studies. Friends of Serviam continues to provide funding for this program.
