One of my favourite permaculture authors recommended the subpod vermicomposting system while it was still on kick starter. One can never have too many ways to compost, so I supported their kickstarter campaign. Today I finished setting it up. Here are some pics.

I just want to throw out what I feel is a very necessary reminder, especially in these times. SHOP LOCAL! As much as you can! Small businesses are dying and man...y won't make a comeback. PLEASE stop feeding the greedy and the ridiculously rich! Put your money where it is needed most- right here at home! "But Walmart is cheaper." (I despise even spewing forth their name.) Yeah, why do you think that is? And I'll tell ya what, my income is waaaaay below what is classified as the poverty line and has been, well, forever, and I've not set foot in that place (and many others) for years and am surviving somehow. And my list of places NOT to support keeps growing, as does my list of local ones TO support. Need help finding them? Check out Support Small Business Manitoba page. Find a farmers market. Ask around. Seriously, we're in big(ger) trouble if we can't support and build up our own small, locally owned and operated businesses. Please do what you can. Rant over (for now). So since COVID happened, the usual fruit pickers from other countries couldn’t make it to BC. The BC farmers are literally desperate for workers right now, ther...e will be no cherries this year unless people come help!! If you don’t know anything about fruit picking, it’s a highly coveted job usually, you can make lots of money and have lots of fun in nature all day so your friends. My town is keremeos/Cawston and it’s booming with fruit but no workers. There’s signs posted all over town etc. Friends, pls get out here asap if you want the world to have fruit from BC this year, instead of all of it going to waste... & guys, they’re DESPERATE... you can definitely make a good deal with people for free housing etc. PLS COME TO OUR AID message me if you need more details.
