I know many people have been wondering what the entry requirements were for me as a Canadian travelling to Jamaica at this current time. Jamaica is requiring all Canadian's visiting to first fill out an online Travel Authorization Card before you fly. All tourists entering Jamaica will need to have an approval from the above application to be granted entry. As Jamaica moves to become more environmentally friendly, the landing process is now paperless so you can easily comple...te your customs forms online as well. Upon arrival I had to undergo a health screening. Because I had no symptoms and was traveling from Canada I was not required to take a COVID test at the airport. I was then freely allowed to travel to my resort and enjoy my trip. No quarantine in destination but I am required to stay on the property. Note: I will have to quarantine for 14 days when I return home. Jamaica recorded their first case of the virus on March 10th, but has managed to keep levels on the island relatively low due to strict protocols. Thank you Air Canada for the great service on my flights to Montego Bay I really appreciate the customer care kits which include a mask, bottled water, hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, headset and a snack. Very nice complimentary package From the moment I arrived at the airport until landing in Jamaica everything was seamless, never once did I feel unsafe and I especially liked the limited contact with screens and surfaces thanks to the new TouchFree experience they’ve... put in place. I was happy with all the extra cleaning the staff was constantly doing in the airport and having all the hand sanitizer stations throughout. For the past several months many of our shopping centres at home have implemented social distancing markers, plexiglass between the tellers and the shoppers, have hand sanitizer at the door and require masks be worn by both the employees and the customers. So, I have to say I didn’t find flying to feel any different than what we are already used to experiencing when we leave our home to go to the grocery store or the mall. The best part about airports lies in what they symbolize. Airports are places of bookends: new beginnings and long-awaited endings, arrivals and departures, hellos and goodbyes. We start in one city to end in another hundreds or thousands of miles away. You enter from a desert and exit into a blizzard. In from winter, out into summer. In from familiarity, out into something completely foreign. Or vice versa. An airport is a place of transit, and not just geographically. I wish there was some sort of time lapse to show how people change between departures and arrivals. when I arrive back home from being away, I'm never the same person as when I left.
