Front Line Awards and Gifts 24.05.2021

I've recently started making cutting boards. I'm still experimenting with designs to see what type people are really interested in.

It's been very busy the past few months. I had some large orders to fill prior to Christmas because some lucky detachment had an awesome detachment commander that bought all of his staff some gifts. Then, I had a DANCO that bought all of her detachment commanders some gifts, so...That kept me busy enough that I couldn't even accept any new orders since about Sept. because I knew I couldn't fill them until 2021 anyway. Now that they've all been delivered I can post a few pic...tures to show some of what I was working on (I completed them in batches of 5 - 6 at a time). The challenge coin holders were for the RMs and the small boxes were for the PS's. And since then it's been a matter of working on some cutting boards and trying to use up the leftover wood from all these projects. So, I've updated my website (getflag.ca) with some cutting boards. All shipping/taxes are included in the prices, so the price listed is as delivered to you. I also made up a few spare small boxes and challenge coin holders (in case I had any mistakes pre-Christmas), so I'll be posting those up soon as well as part of my overall shop clean up from 2020.

Cutting Boards! Like every other woodworker on the planet, making a cutting board is a necessity. I just took a slightly different path and made more complicated items before veering back to these foundational items. Attached are a few cutting/serving/charcuterie boards that I've made over the past few months. So far, I've only done some gifts and sold a few to my "guinea pigs" as I test out designs to ensure the end product is of a sufficient quality that I actually want ...to produce them. I haven't posted them on my website yet because I'm still in the process of completing a large order of items for a current client and I don't know when I'll actually be able to getting around to new orders. I do have a few boards that I've made to use up some of my "off-cuts" and prevent the amount of "waste" wood that I have. As always, I value any input/comments/suggestions you have with regard to the designs. Thanks!

Here's a few projects I'm working on right now. Obviously these aren't finished as they are still in production, but it demonstrates how I can adjust the wood combinations to try and come up with some interesting patterns. Every piece is unique! Also, I had a customer looking for a 10-piece challenge coin holder for a relative that doesn't have many. Then I thought...what a great idea. A small challenge coin holder for a starter who isn't sure if they want to get roped ...into a large collection.....or a nice little desktop stand for the big collector who wants to highlight their favorites at work or in a special place at home. So....since I got asked for one and I had several scrap pieces of lumber sitting around that were too small to work for anything else, I thought....why not make 8 of them? I value your opinion on what designs you think have merit, so feel free to comment on them. I may look at adding one of the designs to my regular set of production if it seems like there's enough interest.

Sometimes I get a little caught up working on projects and forget to keep things updated here, so I thought I'd put up some pictures of some recent creations now that things are ramping up again. Here's a few sample photos of some items I've been sending out (along with a few that are still for sale) - including challenge coin holders, boxes, nameplates, and plaques. All RCMP products are produced under license from the RCMP Foundation.

We apologize that there haven't been many updates recently. With COVID-19, we did not feel it was appropriate to be ordering/shipping out materials when the postal system was already inundated with deliveries for essential services. So, we've done our small part by not contributing further to their workload. Now that Saskatchewan has started to open up, we have access to most, if not all the supplies we require and we're going to be starting to ramp up production again. ...During the shutdown, we did some shop upgrades and refined some processes to make the production cycle a lot more efficient. We also worked with materials we had on hand and have been able to complete 7 more Challenge Coin Holders that are already engraved/finished and ready to ship. We have 3 more that are almost complete and ready for engraving. These are all available at our website at www.getflag.ca/shop. Thanks!

Here's a few photos of some recent work as well as a few things we have in progress right now. We'll be expanding a little further into signs for around the house or maybe some key racks, etc. As you can see from the first photo, we can engrave photographs onto the signs well. If there's something you have in mind, send us a message and we'll see if we can make it for you! We recently got some live edge lumber, so we've got a few challenge coin holders in production, too. There's always something on the go...
