Don't put too much pressure on yourself to unpack, but scheduling a housewarming party sometime in the near future will help give you a date to work towards.

Pets, while cute and fun, can get in the way on moving day. Try sending them to a family member or friend's house for the day to keep them out of the way and in a stress-free environment.

Pack a first aid kit where you can easily access it on your first day in your new home. Although we hope you'll never need it, it's smart to keep it handy should an emergency arise.

Instead of removing clothing from dresser drawers and packing them in boxes, remove the drawers themselves and wrap in plastic to cut down on packing materials needed for your move.

Looking to feel more at home in your new space? Unpack a few personal items (i.e. picture frames, keepsakes, etc.) early on in your move. It'll help you and your family settle in and put a smile on your face.
