Happy birthday to Buffy Sainte-Marie, born on this day in 1941 on the Piapot Cree First Nation Reserve in Saskatchewan, Canada. Here she is performing "Cripple Creek" on a mouth bow on the children’s television show Sesame Street in the late 1970s.

Nous sommes heureux d'annoncer qu'Hélène Bernardot de l'Université Laval est la lauréate du prix Violetta Halpert 2020. L'article gagnant d'Hélène est intitulé Bâtir des passerelles entre patrimoine autochtone et publics allochtones: analyse des pratiques muséologiques au Musée Huron-Wendat. Son travail sur le Musée Huron-Wendat explore les pratiques de représentation et d'interaction dans le contexte des expositions et du système de gouvernance du musée, ainsi que les inte...ractions entre professionnels et publics. Ses intérêts de recherche plus larges portent sur la muséologie à l'ère du postcolonialisme, en particulier les questions de vulgarisation scientifique, de démocratisation, de diversité et de justice sociale. We are pleased to announce that Hélène Bernardot of Laval University is the winner of the 2020 Violetta Halpert Prize. Hélène's winning paper is entitled "Building Bridges between Indigenous Heritage and Nonindigenous Audiences: An Analysis of Museological Practices at the Huron-Wendat Museum." Her work on the Huron-Wendat Museum explores practices of representation and interaction in the context of the museum's exhibitions and system of governance, as well as interactions between museum professionals and the public. Her wider research interests focus on museology in the era of postcolonialism, particularly issues of popular science, democratization, diversity, and social justice.
