Fort St. James Falcons Speedskating Club

I’m writing this post as lesson for everyone. First picture was taken 5 minutes before the incident. After the spruce kings game on Sunday night we got to skat...e with them. Austin was playing tag and with one of the players and tripped and this girl skating backwards tripped over him and sliced his neck. It was really bad but thankfully didn’t hit any arteries or veins. About 1/2cm away from his artery. He has 3 layers of stitches with 17 on the top layer at least 30 plus stitches in total. I actually think I have the toughest kid around. He didn’t shed a tear since he got into the ambulance. I’m sure I will have people judging me but before you do ask your self if you put a neck guard on your child when you went public skating, skating lessons or on a backyard rink. I’m going to go with the answer is no. My kids would never play hockey without a neck guard but I can tell you they will never step foot on the ice without one. I hope anyone who reads this does the same. Me dean and Austin thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for all the people that helped us at the rink calling 911, getting firefighters, looking after Peyton you name it people did it. Once getting to the hospital and hearing the voice of Darlene Dunn was the only voice I needed to hear to feel calm. Of course off shift she was and stayed to help the little guy. Thank you!!!!
