Edit: 4-28-2020 Hi everyone! We have lots of exciting things happening to us lately despite all the challenges. We will stick onto this special for one or two more day as our new special needs a little be of love. Weather looks not promising this week: unless otherwise you request it or sun decides to come out, we won't put any tables outside. Our special includes Northwest Futomaki ... -Futomaki- is thick sushi roll with lots of ingridients in it. We, of course, feature local seafood such as black cod, dungeness crab, and sidestripe shrimp along with cucumber, pickled daikon radish, spinach We also have -Sukeroku Bento- available. It has Northwest Futomaki, 4 pcs of Inari (deep fried tofu pocket), cucumber roll, and (kiribooshi daikon: simmered dried daikon radish). We purchased this dried daikon strips from Tama Organic and daikon was grown at Umi Nami Farm This is very traditional Japanese sushi package made with lots of BC yummies. Hope you will enjoy it! As you probably know it already, the indoor dining ban is extended for 5 more weeks until after May long weekend. We will try keeping you attracted during these times! #circutbreaker #sukeroku #princerupert #supportlocal #eatlocal

Our reopening special West Coast Ramen was a big hit! We’ve sold 80 bowls in 4 weeks. We are very happy to announce that we have donated a portion of sales, $800, to @oceanwiseseafood as part of #nationalchowderchowdownfeatival which we were 1 month late due to our relocation process. #chowderchowdown is one of our favorite events to attend. It has not only given us opportunities to showcase our pristine northwest seafood but also connected us with great chefs such as @robert..._clark_64 @nedbell @stacybites @ben__kiely_ who shares same philosophy. We hope to continue participating this great event to promote our great seafood, coast and sustainability of our the ocean! We are feeling a big collab coming with local Dungeness crab fleets for the next year’s event. So please stay tuned! Thank you @wildpacifichalibut for the generous donation this year. #favoriteevent #greatchefs #sustainability #localseafood #eatlocal #createlocal #bctastesbetter @eatdrinkbuybc @visitprincerupert

The Sunset last night was amazing! We absolutely love the view from our dining area. -We still have some room for lunch take-out or at the boardwalk.... -Dinner is very tight already: the earliest pick up and boardwalk table (for 2) available would be 7pm. -Duck Ramen is "temporarily" sold out. We might have some broth left after everyone who reserved it get it. We will follow up next week. Have a great weekend everyone! Hope you all enjoy the Sun:)

Well, it sure was a very interesting, challenging, and yet wonderful year. This year reassured us how much we love this community and wonderful people like you who supported and cheered us in these crazy times. Here are our top 3 most sold item in the year 2020!... 1. Omakase (chef choice meal) 2. Northwest Ramen 3. Maple Miso Glazed Black Cod We are very delighted that Omakase was the best seller. It includes "A Taste of Prince Rupert" a collaboration with Visit Prince Rupert and "A Taste of Wild BC Salmon" a collaboration with BC Salmon Marketing Council which we are extending the offer for one more week in January. We wish you a very happy new year and we are so excited to move into our new location to serve/offer you more BC seafood, produce, artisan products, and more early next year! 7 years in business, 7 local businesses to appreciate. As part of our 7th anniversary giveaway, we would love to share how each business in this gift pack has helped us achieve this far. #2 Javadotcup One of our favorite lunch spots in town. We’ve known each other for much more than a decade. Yoriko and Julian have been always supportive to our business as well as our staff members.... When Chef Dai came back to town from Ontario 8 years ago, he had nowhere to stay. They kindly offered him one of their accommodation rooms until he finds his joint. Ever since then, we had a few Japanese workers with working holiday visa who found Java as their accommodation while working at fukasaku (with very affordable rent!). Even more, they often treated our staff with some yummies. We hope to collaborate with them in the near future hosting Izakaya Night. Yoriko gave us a bottle of Dom Perignon as gift when we first opened our door 7 years ago. It’s kept unopened as we thought it wasn’t time to celebrate yet. When our new location starts running, we would like to open this special champagne and have it with you guys! To enter the draw, just dine in or place a take out order until December 5th and you will be entered automatically. #supportlocal #supporteachother #smallbusinessfriends #princerupert

Last week, we inherited pieces of Japanese kitchen equipment with lots of history of Japanese Canadian from our lovely customer Ryoko, 3rd generation Japanese in town. 1. The steamer: it was handmade by Ryoko’s grandfather with copper. Here is a cool fact: this steamer was used in the kitchen of New World Hotel, which people called a heart of little Tokyo, on Powell Street in Vancouver before the war. 2. A knife has small ball attached on top: it is to open up herring belly ...without breaking herring roe (kazunoko). Hopefully, there will be some herring next year so we can try using it. 3. Oshizushi mold: another handmade mold to make oshizushi (presses sushi). I can see they made another board (from sujiko box) to put underneath the top board for more press affect. This mold is big that we can make sushi for 2,3 people at once! Thank you for sharing history Ryoko. We will make best use of them and pass them to next generations. #japanesecanadian # #kitchenequipment #history # #history #princerupert #steamer #herringroe #pressedsushi # # #

We had such an amazing afternoon. First, we catered to @greatbearscallops plant and served our @oceanwiselife approved local seafood to our MP @taylorbachrach and MLA @jenniferrice06 We were also invited to sit down to have lunch with them. After that, we had a plant tour and it was very educational!! Never realized how much science is involved for the operation. #aquaculture #scallops #princerupert @eatdrinkbuybc #bctastesbetter

Dearest all, May we please ask you to be responsible for your reservation? Yes, our dining is open now and you might think we are back to "normal". The fact is we lost almost 50% of our dining capacity following the regulation. We are still trying to sustain our business in these crazy times.... When you make a reservation and you don't show up, you are not only missing the opportunity to taste sustainable local West Coast seafood but also stealing other people's opportunity to taste and experience our food. We usually reject a few reservation requests a day because of our lower capacity in the dining area. We need to keep our dining area with 4 tables filled with customers to go through these time and stay ourselves afloat. Missing a sales opportunity caused by no-show affects us a lot. So, please don't make a reservation if you are not committed 100%. Thank you for listening, Dai and Staff
