Fulcrum Fitness + Nutrition is hosting the second annual "Kilometers for Cash" event in support of the CMHA Calgary. For every $10 raised, I will run 1km up to a maximum 60km ultra marathon distance. The run will take place in Auburn Bay on Sunday June 6th from 8:00am - 2:00pm As someone who suffers from Seasonal Affective Disorder, I move for my own mental health. Keeping active can have a profoundly positive impact on depression, anxiety, ADHD, and more. It also relieves st...ress, improves memory, helps you sleep better, and boosts your overall mood. I have many close friends, family and clients who suffer with mental health issues and with the added stress of Covid-19, more and more Canadians are feeling the effects. I am hoping the Kilometers for Cash event will get people moving and talking about their own mental health. We are better together! How can you participate? There are a number of ways you can participate in "Kilometers for Cash" in support of the CMHA Calgary: - Donate now in support of Melissa's 60km run - every dollar counts towards the goal of running 60km! https://secure.cmha.calgary.ab.ca/raise/event/78 - Raise your own funds and sign up to run/walk/bike/roller blade your own loop of the Auburn Bay 5km and ask your friends and family members to support you (I will be providing a FREE learn to run a 5km training program). Sign up as a participant if you want to do your own fundraising using this link, choose the KM for Cash event and click "participate". https://secure.cmha.calgary.ab.ca/raise/events/ - On June 6th, walk, run, bike, roller blade any distance at any location to show your support and move for mental wellness. 25 days of Fit-Mas is back!!! The countdown is on until Christmas! This is my absolute favorite time of the year but it's sure looking and feeling pretty different this year. This years challenge will be less about fitness and more about good health, wellness and cheer! Let’s have some fun this month and count down the days until Christmas!... Here's how it works. Each morning I will post the activity for the day in my stories. It may be fitness, nutrition. lifestyle based or just plain old FUN. You have until midnight that day to complete the activity and post "done" or a picture in the comments. For current clients, there are 10 prizes to win plus a grand prize at the end. I have randomly selected 10 "prize days" but this will remain a secret so you are encouraged to participate each day! If that day is a "prize day" all of the names that participated will be put into a hat and a name will be drawn the next day. If you’re not a current client you can still participate as there will be one grand prize draw on December 26th for the public. Every time you complete an activity and message me that it’s "done" you will get one entry into the grand prize draw which will be done on December 26th. Who's excited?!? I am!!! Stay tuned for your first challenge, make sure to check into FB or IG in the morning so you can work the activity into your day.

The prize pool for tomorrow's event just got bigger!! Nikki Takahashi, owner of Fetching Finn Inc. just donated twenty five $25 Gravity Espresso and Wine Bar gift cards! Nikki designed my logo and amazing website when I went into business and she's an avid supporter of small businesses. This is a great example of our small business community helping each other out. As we enter another phase of Covid shutdowns in Calgary (and many cities in the world) I wanted to let you know about the virtual group classes I’ve been running since March and will continue to run for the foreseeable future. Pass prices have been reduced and now include access to the Fulcrum app along with the live virtual group classes. Pricing for the unlimited virtual group pass is $59+gst/month. The pass will renew automatically every month unless you want to cancel. T...o cancel, just send me a text or email and I will cancel the next payment. The live Zoom classes run every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday morning at 9:00am, Monday and Wednesday evening at 7:00pm and Thursday evenings at 6:00pm. You will have access to the Fulcrum app which will include a number of at home workouts. Workouts will be in written format with videos, photos and descriptions of each exercise. You can track the weights you've used in order to progress each workout. Most workouts are customizable depending on how much time you have available. I will also be recording two or three of the LIVE group classes each week and uploading them into the app so you can do these on your own time if you can't make it to class. These will be different from the other workouts in the app as they will be full hour long videos with me coaching so you just have to follow along vs reading the app. If you would like to sign up, here is the link to do so. My big goal is to raise $2000 for the Canadian Mental Health Association and I would love your support to do that. How can you participate?... **due to the storm today, boot camp was cancelled. I have added TWO replacement classes so more people could try them out. Free trial outdoor boot camps will be held on Wednesday May 27th at 5:45pm and Saturday May 30th at 10:15am. This is a BYOE (bring your own equipment) class. You will need a set of dumbbells (or soup tins, heavy rocks or wine bottles), a yoga mat or towel and a resistance band if you have one (but optional).... Class will be held at the north end of the Prince of Peace School facing Auburn Bay Avenue. Social distancing is a MUST and I will require people to be a minimum of 10' apart. All fitness levels are welcome as there are modifications for every exercise. If you have any joint issues or injuries, please notify me prior to class so I can be prepared. You MUST sign into the actual class you’d like to try, but just register for the free pass. Class size is limited to 15 people.
