A study found that a treatment featuring the hallucinogen psilocybin worked 4 times better than the usual antidepressant medications. Patients responded much faster than with typical antidepressants, with sustained benefits. More studies are needed. Federal law makes it illegal to grow or possess psilocybin. With more research, this too may change.

Ruth Baden Ginsburg was, among other characteristics, a champion for safe vaccines. She argued that liability lawsuits were the only force incentivizing drug companies to make vaccines safe. So far, so fantastic! As of April 2020, my colleague and teacher Jeremy Sherrs group had collected complete clinical information for 204 cases of homeopathic treatment of presumed COVID-19, documented by homeopaths from the UK, Israel, Russia, Japan, China, Italy, Belgium, Germany and the US. Of the 204 cases, -131 people (64 percent) reported their symptoms as "very much better" after homeopathy, meaning that they were returning to their normal state with only slight sympt...oms and were not relapsing; -58 (28 percent) were "much better," meaning improved from the serious symptoms, but still experiencing some lesser symptoms. Combined, 189 cases (93 percent) were either very much or much better. -The other eight percent were either somewhat better or unchanged. None worsened. To be continued!

Temperature checks anyone? I copied and pasted this as I thought it was interesting re the Pineal gland. Today was my second day of working (Registered Medic ) within the new virus protocols and a new task is to take and record everyones temperature !!!!! It turns out this was a second report, to replace an initial first high quality report payed by Australian taxpayers that found there are good quality, well-designed studies which show that certain homeopathic treatments are effective in certain conditions such as hay fever, sinusitis, upper respiratory tract infections, diarrhea in children and lower back pain. Interviews patients, clinicians, homeopathic veterinarians, farmers, homeoagronomists... watch a horse called Luna diagnosed with melanoma, and partially paralyzed regain her health. Insightful, inspiring, and highly recommended.

Happy International Nurses Day to all the nurses of the world. It is celebrated today because the founder of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale Ward, was born on this day, May 12, 1820. Florence received medical training from a number of hospitals and schools in Europe and the United States, including Californias foremost homeopathic institution, Hahnemann Medical College of the Pacific. She later served as Professor of Obstetrics at Hahnemann and held leadership positions... in local and national organizations, including becoming vice president of the American Institute of Homeopathy. Nightingale came to prominence while serving as a manager and trainer of nurses during the Crimean War, in which she organised care for wounded soldiers. She also had homeopathic nurses with her in the Crimea, mentoring Linda Richards, an American nurse who trained at the Brooklyn Homeopathic School. She gave nursing a favorable reputation and became an icon of Victorian culture, especially in the persona of "The Lady with the Lamp" making rounds of wounded soldiers at night. She became the second woman to be elected to the American College of Surgeons, an appointment that recognized her many contributions to the fields of gynecology and surgery. Nightingale's practice blended conventional medical techniques with homeopathic remedies and treatments. Her social reforms included improving healthcare for all sections of British society, advocating better hunger relief in India, helping to abolish prostitution laws that were harsh for women, and expanding the acceptable forms of female participation in the workforce.

Researchers noted that patients from countries with high COVID-19 mortality rates, such as Italy, Spain and the UK, had lower levels of vitamin D compared to patients in countries that were not as severely affected. Don't forget that sunshine affects our body's ability to produce Vit. D, so it's wise and healthy to be outdoors at least a little. As well, remember Vit D is fat soluble, which means it can accumulate in the body if you take too much of it orally.

Allopathic (conventional, pharmaceutical) medicine is treating COVID-19 patients through trial and error methods. Why isn't homeopathic, ayurvedic (and Chinese Medicine I might add) being given the same opportunity to help people suffering from COVID-19? It seems like in India as well, the government keeps hesitating, having an off and on attitude with allowing studies using traditional medicine to treat people suffering with COVID-19.

Look what's blooming. I found this lovely specimen of Taraxacum (dandelion) awakening on my morning walk. Liver cleanse anyone? This weed takes over many a Canadian lawn and is prolific on the sides of roads and highways where pollution is at its worst, sprinkling its sunny color amidst the greenery. It has great healing properties, especially when it comes to liver and GI problems, including gall stones and constipation. As Dr. Stephan Baumgartner of the University of Bern in Switzerland points out in this short video, patients treated homeopathically scored well in their outcomes, with no harmful side-effects. Just because we don't understand how it works, rather than throwing the baby out with the bathwater, we need to study the way homeopathy works. Otherwise, it's too miraculous to be true, defying conventional understanding. As author Arthur C. Clarke said, "Any sufficiently advanced te...chnology is indistinguishable from magic", and as we all know, skeptics of homeopathy accuse of being "magical thinkers". No wonder homeopathy isn't popular with the medical status quo; it defies the conventional medical model, which is based entirely on biochemistry. Nothing wrong with the biochemical model of medicine, as long as it doesn't exclude other equally valid health care approaches, such as ones that rely on the body's self-healing abilities. Homeopathic medicine works by stimulating this subtle but empowering self-healing power that our body is endowed with. We need studies which explore this phenomenon. Unfortunately, there is no funding for such studies, as you can't patent the body's self-healing abilities!

This was a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, 6-day pilot study. Thirty children, age 6 to 12 years, with acute viral tonsillitis were recruited from a primary school in Gauteng, South Africa. Acute viral tonsillitis is an upper respiratory tract infection prevalent in school-aged children. Because this condition is self-limiting, conventional treatment options are usually palliative. Homeopathic remedies are a useful alternative to conventional medications in acut...e uncomplicated upper respiratory tract infections in children, offering earlier symptom resolution, cost-effectiveness, and no harmful side-effects! Participants took two tablets four times daily. The treatment group received lactose tablets medicated with the homeopathic complex (Belladonna, Calcarea-phos, Hepar-sulph, Kalium-bi, Kalium-mur, Mercurius protoiodid, and Mercurius biniodid). The control group got placebo tablets. The result was that the treatment group had a statistically significant improvement compared with the placebo group. The improvement included less pain associated with tonsillitis, less pain on swallowing, decreased inflammation of the pharynx, and decrease in tonsil size. These preliminary findings are promising. A larger, more inclusive research study should be undertaken to verify the findings of this study. However, it costs to undertake such a study. Sadly, so far there is no $ to fund such a worthy larger-scale study.
