I teach a course for PHBI a class called, Sales Fundamentals. I often get eye rolls from the more experienced sales people in the course, 'I have years of experience selling, there is nothing that you can teach me'. At the beginning of each Sales Fundamentals session, I take time to thank everyone for joining me. I ask that no matter the experience level, to please leave themselves open to the materials. That no matter our experience levels, there might be a tip, an idea, a t...hought that stands out to us. That re-sparks our sales passion. Every time I complete one of the sessions, I get resounding feedback on how this course has made the sales professional go back to the basics and relearn the fundamentals. Many of forgot about the power of referrals. Some are so used to the objections they have been hearing, they answer the objection before hearing it, sometimes actually creating an objection that didn't even exist. Others rediscover the power of discovery questions. Here is feedback that I received after the course was complete, 'I have felt more invigorated about the sales process and we're trying out some new tactics. We've already experienced success!' Yesterday was one of those days where you see the positive in the hardest situation, COVID. Our largest fundraiser at Making Changes, is an in person fashion show gala called YYC Chic Gala. Obviously, COVID kept us from an in person event. But our fundraising committee pivoted and created an online event - Powerful You. Powerful You was a seven hour Instagram Live event. The event raised over $50,000 to help empower women and girls in Calgary! I am so thankful and grateful to have worked with these volunteers! I have learned more about social media. I have stretched my creativity. I have become closer friends with 10 awesome women! I don’t want to say thank you to COVID....but I am glad that I stayed open to the opportunities that COVID presented.

As an instructor/facilitator, I pride myself on being high energy. In my experience, a facilitator's energy level makes the difference in making the subject matter come to life. So yesterday when I got this email from a recent class participant....it absolutely felt like I won an award! 'I have really enjoyed these classes and a large part of that is to do with you. You make it fun and applicable.'... Honestly these simple sentences made my day, week, month. It reinforced to me that I am on the right path. That my personal brand, that I have worked hard to develop, works and makes a difference. It made me want to set aside a few minutes every day and send a message to at least one person that is making a difference in my life/career. A thank you to a co-worker for helping make a difference in the work that we are doing. A word of encouragement to a past student. A check in with someone that I haven't talked to in forever. You never know the difference it could make. Take a minute today and share some positivity, some thanks, some good news, or a hello with one person. Recently, someone in one of the courses that I was facilitating reminded us all of the 'Power of 3' concept and how powerful it is as a sales tool. It inspired me to spend some more time this morning studying the concept relating to objections. I think what I found is an awesome tool that is easy to remember and use. When faced with a client objection, think: 1: Objections are just questions.... 2: Use empathy cushions. Condo Fees - I STRONGLY believe that anytime you live attached to multiple other homeowners that condo fees are a MUST. Benefits of condo fees include: Lifestyle - low maintenance living Property Value - The condo board has reserve studies done and makes plans for repairs.... Maintenance - the maintenance on the exterior of your home is done for you, maintaining the value of your home. Good Neighbours - a property manager makes sure that good neighbours stay just that, good neighbours. They take care of concerns like noise, garbage, pets, parking. When we hear, 'I don't want to have a home that has condo fees'.....our automatic reaction to go on the defensive. But what if we stopped and asked open ended questions to get clarity as to what their concern is. If we don't take this step we may start bringing up the sides of condo fees that were not even a concern to the prospect before...but since we brought them up, they are. Do NOT create an objection where one does not exist. What is it about condo fees that are a concern to you? Can I ask where your concern about condo fees comes from? Can you tell me about your experience with condo fees? What drew you to a viewing condo community today - lifestyle, price, location?
