Another throwback of one of our furry friends, Tayto, working out with us. Sadly for now, they cheer (bark) us on from outside until all goes back to normal. Who wants to see more doggo mascots on the feed?

Wise words to start off your week. That pain you're feeling from Saturday's class is just you getting stronger.

A new month means... time for a new athlete of the month! Carsten has only done CrossFit for a short time but in that time he has learned so much. He gives every workout 110%! We are excited to see him grow as a CrossFit athlete and see how far his CrossFit will take him! Let's get to know Carsten a little more... - Name: Carsten Boenisch Age: 11 -... Favourite CrossFit movement?: Back Squat. - Best CrossFit moment: When I back squatted 90lb for 5 reps. - Fitness goals for 2021: I would like to be able to do a muscle up. - When did you start CrossFit?: Summer of 2020. - Would you like to do a CrossFit competition in the future? Crossfit Open 2021?: I am not old enough for the CrossFit Open yet, but I would like to do it when I am. I would like to do an individual competition. - What changes have occurred in your health and fitness and athletic performance since starting at FA? I can now do 8-10 strict pull ups in a row. Also my rowing has gotten better and I can row for longer and further. I can go for a 5km run with my dad. - What do you love about FA? I have never been to another gym before so I can't compare it but I like how I don't have to make up my own workouts and I like using all the different equipment that I can't use anywhere else, including the rings and pull up bar. - Congrats, Carsten! Better late than never for October! - Athlete of the month: @chadsonj -... - Age: 33 - - Profession: IT Recruitment / Sales - - Favourite CrossFit movement? I would say Bench Press, but I don't really think that qualifies as a "Crossfit Movement". Alternatively, clean and jerk. - - Best CrossFit moment? Successfully completing a pigeon pose. I've got excellent mobility. Also recently stringing together 5 HSPU was very satisfying. - - Fitness goals? My number one goal is to defeat my rival, Patrick Desmarais, in the Reindeer Gains. In addition, I've been working with Coach Mike to increase squat strength and become more proficient in some of the gymnastics movements. Ideally, I'd like to get to a point where I can complete most of the workouts Rx. I also would like to lift more than my wife. - - When did you start CrossFit? How many years at FA? I started CrossFit in 2015, then took a little break from it. I got back into CrossFit when I joined FA in mid 2017. - - Have you done any CrossFit competitions? your experiences. Yes, I've done two Reindeer Gains so far in the Scaled Division. Both were awesome experiences (except losing to my arch nemesis and chief rival, Patrick Desmarais). I also competed (ironically with my rival, Patrick Desmarais) in the CrossFit BC Winter Challenge last January which was a lot of fun. Competitions are a great opportunity to push your comfort zone and push your fitness level. Really looking forward to the next one. - - What changes have occurred in your health and fitness and athletic performance since starting at FA? The biggest thing for me has been increasing my mobility. Before starting CrossFit, I had a hard time doing an OHS with a PVC pipe. Seeing improvements in squat snatch and OHS, and completing pigeon poses, have been big improvements for me. - - What do you love about FA? Outside of cardio day, it’s the community. It’s a great group of people that come into the gym everyday and I’ve made a lot of great friends through FA. - - Additional comments about your Fitness Journey at FA. - It’s fitness time! See more
