Leeks are a nutrient-dense vegetable in the onion family. Right now, during spring, leeks are at their best! With its distinct flavour and its fibrous taste, there is a lot to know about this veggie. Rhubarb is currently in abundance and in season. I've been looking forward to coming up with some new creations in the kitchen. It’s so easy to grow and I’m grateful to have it readily available. By the way, did you know that rhubarb is actually a vegetable, not a fruit? (It's in the same family as celery). These are two incredible natural insect & weed killers that work! Limiting your exposure to harmful chemicals at home is great for the earth as well as your family. Instead of your traditional garden and insect products, use the following all-natural fixes. Weed Killer Make your own recipe from Epsom salt, vinegar and dish soap. It is excellent for killing top growth, but you will have to weed them by hand for more deep-rooted plants. AVOID glyphosate weed killers which are ...extremely harmful to the environment and you! Insect Killer Diatomaceous earth is your friend! This fine white powder is actually tiny fossilized plankton. This can be used in problem areas inside or outside. Just sprinkle a fine dusting of the powder. Using a squeeze bottle is what I found is best to do so. What's a simple and natural product that you use and love?
