WE ARE OPEN AGAIN FOR DENTAL TREATMENT Thank you to our patients for your understanding during the time of restricted dental care. We are happy to announce our office is open again for treatment starting Monday June 8th. JUNE OFFICE HOURS Mon to Fri, 8:30am to 4:30pm... WHAT TO EXPECT at your next visit to Fundy Dental? As with all businesses in NS, we must abide by public health restrictions while there is still community spread of Covid-19. Our clinic model will change slightly to ensure safe physical distancing of our patients. WE ASK ALL PATIENTS TO CALL IN ADVANCE to get an appointment time for triage instead of showing up at the office and waiting for an available treatment time. We are still happy to offer SAME DAY TREATMENT, but in a more controlled manner. We advise you not to Walk-in to the clinic, but rather schedule an appointment - please call 902-681-9111. For more information about the new workflow and patient expectations at Fundy Dental please visit our webpage - fundydental.com/covid-changes

THANK YOU! We know this has been a tough three months for our patients experiencing dental issues. Nova Scotia dentists were restricted to only provide tele-dentistry and referrals for the most severe cases. We thank our patients for their patience, and we are glad to be back. We also want to give a HUGE THANK YOU to the following local dentists who volunteered their time to manage phone calls at our clinic for the past 11 weeks. ... We know there are a lot of patients that have been anxiously awaiting our return to work. The office will not be able to see everyone in the first few days, so please call ahead for an appointment (902-681-9111). If you are currently experiencing toothache pain or severe problems, do call the office this week to get in for treatment right away. If the dental problem you had over the shutdown is now manageable, then we ask you contact the office a little later in the week for an appointment. For those patients that had scheduled treatment before the COVID-19 outbreak, we will contact you for a new appointment time after June 19th. Thank you for your understanding.

Dental offices in Nova Scotia will be authorized starting June 5th to provide emergency and urgent dental treatment in their clinics. While our office has always followed strict infection control guidelines, we will be following additional protocols identified by the Provincial Dental Board of Nova Scotia and in collaboration with Public Health. Whats the difference between emergency, urgent, and non-urgent dental treatment? Dental emergency: potentially life-threatening con...ditions which require immediate treatment. Urgent dental care: conditions that require immediate attention to relieve severe pain and/or risk of infection. Non-urgent dental care at Fundy: consultations and elective treatment are not to be performed until June 19. We will be able to provide all dental procedures starting on June 19. For more information please contact us via email ([email protected]), on our website (www.fundydental.com) or by phone (902-681-9111)

FUNDY DENTAL UPDATE April 7, 2020 Fundy Dental will continue to be staffed by dentists Mon to Fri from 9am to 1pm to answer your calls, provide necessary advice, prescriptions and/or referrals to a designated emergency clinic. Please contact us by phone (902-681-9111) or email ([email protected]) and our dentists will triage and assess all patient inquiries. THE OFFICE, HOWEVER, IS STILL CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE... The primary objective during the pandemic is to reduce the spread of COVID-19 by encouraging social distancing and limiting unnecessary interaction between individuals. Therefore, our Dental Board has limited the number of dental clinics to as few as necessary to continue to service dental emergencies in the Province, with priority given to Oral Surgeons in a hospital setting. Fortunately, Dr Ian Ross in the Berwick WKM Health Centre was given this designation to serve our Valley patients. If emergency treatment is required, we will refer you to his office or one of the other designated emergency clinics - please do not call or go to these offices without a referral. True dental emergencies (uncontrolled bleeding, severe toothache not managed by medication, infection with significant swelling or causing difficulty breathing, and facial trauma) are still the only procedures that can be addressed at this time. We will continue to update you here as to when other offices will be able to provide emergency treatment and regular dental services are able to be performed. Stay safe & healthy, and we hope to see you all soon.

URGENT UPDATE MARCH 31, 2020 Fundy Dental CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE Due to confirmation that there has been community transmission of COVID-19 in Nova Scotia, the Provincial Dental Board of Nova Scotia, with directive from Dr. Strang, has updated its Emergency Dental Protocol for the treatment of dental emergencies in Nova Scotia. The updated protocol takes effect April1st, and means we can no... longer provide any care at our clinic. Fundy Dental has applied to be a registered clinic to provide care during this time, but are awaiting a response from the PDBNS. You can still contact us by phone (902-681-9111) or email (fundydental@bellaliant,com) and our dentists will triage and assess all patient inquiries. If emergency treatment is required, we will refer you to one of the locations listed below (please do not go to these designated emergency clinics without a referral): Designated Emergency Dental Clinics are as follows: 1. The clinic at the Dalhousie Faculty of Dentistry; 2. The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic at the Victoria General Hospital; 3. The Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the IWK Health Centre Unfortunately, we are now closed until further notice. An update will be provided here once the health authorities deem it safe for us to return to work, or our office receives the specific designation to treat true dental emergencies during this time. Stay safe and healthy, and we hope to see you all soon.

FUNDY DENTAL CURRENTLY IS WORKING REDUCED HOURS for Walk-In Emergencies only: 9am-1pm on Monday to Friday The Provincial Dental Board of Nova Scotia has closed dental offices, limiting treatment to patients with true dental emergencies. If you are had a previously schedule appointment, broken tooth without pain, sensitivity or other non-emergent issue call the office when dental practices are able to provide regular services in a few weeks. If you have a TRUE DENTAL EMERGEN...CY, however, leave a message on our voicemail (902-681-9111) and one of our dentists will get back to you during our reduced walk-in hours from 9am-1pm on Monday to Friday. There is no charge for a dentist to call in a prescription to your local pharmacy so travelling to the office may not be necessary. For patient that arrive for treatment during our walk-in times, please be aware of the following protocols we are implementing: We are restricting the number of patients in the office during this time Upon arrival we ask you call the office to speak with a dentist who will ask you the following questions: - Have you travelled outside of Nova Scotia within the past 14 days? - Do you have flu-like symptoms (cough, fever, trouble breathing)? - Have you been in close contact (2m) with a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the past 14 days? - Have you been in close contact with a person with a fever or new onset of cough that has travelled outside of NS within the past 14 days? Patients that are high risk or COVID-19 positive require treatment at one of the central locations (VG & IWK hospitals or Dalhousie Dental). A referral can be sent directly from a Fundy Dentist without the patient being seen at the office. Low risk patients should be treated with medication first and the dentist will call a prescription into your pharmacy --- or --- if a simple extraction can be performed patients will be called into the office in appropriate sequence for definitive care today. Thank you for you cooperation during these uncertain times as we try to provide appropriate care while reducing the risk of spreading the coronavirus during the early stage of the outbreak.

Fundy Dental is closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and will follow the recommendations set by our authorities. Suspension of non-essential and elective dental services The Provincial Dental Board strongly recommends that all non-essential and elective dental services should be suspended immediately. Emergency treatment should continue. This recommendation will be continuously monitored and stands until further notice.... Our office is open to treat dental emergencies, however, please self-isolate or reschedule appointments if any of the following applies: - Have travelled outside of Canada within the past 14 days - Have flu-like symptoms (cough, fever, trouble breathing) - Have been in close contact (2m) with a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the past 14 days - Has been in close contact with a person with a fever or new onset of cough that has travelled outside of Canada in the past 14 days We thank you for your assistance as we navigate this challenging time. - Fundy Dentists and staff

Whether its wisdom tooth removal, root canal treatment, regular extractions or just basic filings - do not put off going to the dentist just because you are nervous about the treatment.
