Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy - Extension

CEWS Audit - CRA The CRA has started working on the post-payment audit program for the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS). Audits under this program will begin this summer, and they will focus on CEWS applications made for periods one to four. Risk assessment tools and random sampling methodology will be used to select a range of files for this phase of the audit program. The CRA will use results from this phase to identify types and levels of non-compliance with CEWS legislation. These findings will inform future CEWS audit strategies which will be launched in the fall of 2020. It is important to note that the CRA is not looking to punish businesses who have made an honest mistake in their application, but to detect and address instances of deliberate non-compliance.

Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) The Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) is part of the Federal COVID-19 Emergency Response Act that was passed March 24 and 25. At the time of writing, information and supporting regulations are still being released. Highlights The subsidy is designed to support Canadians who have been directly affected by COVID-19. This financial support is available to both employed and self-employed Canadians. It provides a $2000 taxabl...e benefit for a 4-week period for up to 16 weeks or 4 periods. Furlonger Associates is participating in the "Accountants Care" cereal drive. This year, we are collecting cereal since there is a loss of donations from the Kellogg's factory closing, as they used to donate quite a bit. We are accepting cereal and monetary donations from November 22 - December 19, 2019....
