TTC PCC streetcar 4545 heads westbound on St. Clair Ave. East near Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on a sunny Summer afternoon in 1972, after coming ...down Mount Pleasant Ave. from Eglinton loop at the end of the St. Clair route. Toronto skyline in 1960....photo from "family archives". The 2 tallest buildings at the time were the Royal York Hotel (1929) and the Bank of Commerce building ...(1931). The Bank of Commerce building was the tallest in the country until the TD Bank Tower was completed in 1967. Many of the buildings in this photo still stand, but sadly none are visible from the water anymore. Also in this view: Bank of Nova Scotia building , the Toronto Harbor Commission building, and Union Station (partially visible). - Credit Frank Dittmann See more
