My worst bite was cutting nails. Let me lay out the scene... It was a beautiful fall day; birds were singing, sun was shining and my hand was pouring blood as I calculated when my last tetanus shot was... s&!t, was it over 10 years ago?!?... In my case, I didn’t know that by picking up Maxx’s leg I had irritated a cancer we didn’t even know about. Yes, I was bit by my own dog. I knew that he hated his nails being cut; so he was already in a stressed frame of mind and then the person he trusted and loved... hurt him! If I had cut a nail too short I would guess Maxx’s response would have been the same... This is an all to familiar story to vet techs and groomers; who then get to cut these dog’s nails... many having to use muzzles or extra hands to hold the dog down and in some extreme cases sedation. Did you know it’s possible to help reframe your dog’s perspective on nail clipping? Or even better start out at 8 weeks of age to teach your pup to... well maybe not love... but put up with the process with minimal stress! Join me for a free short 10 minute live video Fridays at 11:30am CST for 4 weeks starting April 9th. Where I will give you one easy piece of homework to do for the week!

I did my own homework! Show me yours! This is also a great example of how your pup’s motivation can change from minute to minute! This morning Thor would have nothing to do with food and this game; tonight he was all in!!!

Love this flow chart!
Are you greeting puppies correctly?
This may seem like a stupidly cute video... which it is! But it is also great socialization for these little guys!! Granted, I don’t know how many story telling dragons they will run into in their lives... but many will run into automated toys!
Every time... I just stopped buying them
Cats... got to love them!

All of the boat pups seem to be doing well in their fosters homes and we couldnt be happier. We wanted to give a special shout out to our donation angels Jodi... Ruta and Clinton Orr for donating $12,509 through their program PETlife Animal Fund towards the boat pups veterinary bills. We are forever grateful!! We were able to show our appreciation with puppy kisses when they went to visit with Speed* and Catamaran* in their foster home. #donationangels #supertrooper #parvosucks #thankful #survivors *not available for adoption yet
Fun evening! But the behind the scene cleaning was extreme! All I smell is Prevail...
Love love love!!!
Please donate if you can!!!
Crate training is super important! Even if the only time they need to be crated is when they have their spay/neutur at the vet. Imagine waking up from anesthesia to a small space you cant escape. You can make the crate a secure and safe place instead of the plot of your dogs own horror film. This is a great example of the importance of a crate in an emergency scenario.
Clinton and I are super excited to announce our new Donor Advised Fund called PETlife Animal Fund. This group of puppies was our first donation. Please like and follow PETlife Animal Fund to get updates on these little guys! Also future opportunities to donate directly into the fund to help us make huge differences in local Manitoba animal charities!
Sail is still fighting for his life and racking up more vet bills! If you are able to donate please go to Manitoba Mutts and do so! Every penny helps!
Aggression ladder. Often when people say a dog "bite out of the blue" they actually missed the warning signs the dog provides. Dogs do not always display every ring of this ladder, but they will show at least a few signs.
So, you've tried giving your puppy a Kong and they just seem to lose interest and walk away from it. How frustrating... and totally normal! Learning how to wor...k for food is a skill that needs to be taught. And when we talk about frozen Kongs, these are an advanced level that many pups need some time working up to! But don't worry, we've made your Kong training plan for you! By taking a little time to teach your puppy how to work for food from a Kong, you will be teaching a skill that will save you loads of stress and frustration. Kongs can be used to help our dogs live better lives and can even reduce naughty behaviors that stem from boredom and frustration!
Such amazing news!!!!
After 5 weeks finally the dog has been found and reunited!!!
