It's Christmas ! As of Monday Dec 21st , our office will be closed for the holidays. Messages will be monitored for urgent matters only.

Do you like to travel ? Do you like different scenery? Do you mind getting dirty ? Do you mind have torn or stained clothing ? Would it bother you to walk into a store with dirty , torn or stained clothing, while people stare at you ?... Do you mind pushing your body to it's limits day after day until your retire ? Do you want to find muscles you didn't know you had ? Do you want to injure those new found muscles ? Do you mind smelling like fumes? Do smelling fumes bother you ? Do you mind getting slivers on a daily basis ? Would you mind crawling around in dark cramped spaces with creatures big and small ? Would you mind listening to loud machines day after day ? Would you mind having to yell to be heard every day ? Does working at heights scare you ? Can you work outdoors during heatwaves and snowstorms? Can you work outdoors wearing 5 layers of clothing, looking like the abominable snowman? Would using a port-a potty cause you stress ? Would you like to sit in classroom every few years so that someone who's never done your job and has no calluses on their hands tells you how to do your job safely so that you can be recertified even though the H&S Regulations that you need to follow, might be a tad foolish? If you can handle all these and more, you might be a tradesmen. If you can't, that's ok ! But maybe give a nod of thanks to those who do. They help keep our lives running year round ! #NationalTradesmenDay

Alex was lucky enough to be hired for his own little job. His task was to assemble a basketball net for a family in our community. It took alot of patience and problem solving , with instructions straight from NASA , even persevering through the rain. He did it at 13! So proud of this kid. He is currently available for other odd jobs in the community, so if you know of anyone looking for a set of hands , in Whitestone or Mckellar, keep him in mind. ... Thankyou to the Gordon Family for giving him this opportunity <3

Its busy. We've had a few calls in the last few week's from customers who have hired others who were inexperienced to complete a job, or did a horrible job and ...have no recourse as they had paid in full up front. NEVER PAY IN FULL UP FRONT ! It's customary to ask for a deposit and depending on the scope and length of work, weekly payments or one lum sum payment upon completion. Getting a building permit might be a headache, but it can also save you when it's time for inspection. Inspections can identify issues you may not be aware of. Not every project requires a permit, but if a contractor is willing to proceed with a project that should have one, that could be a red flag. Too often Contractors and those in Construction trades claim WSIB clearance and liability coverage. As a consumer you are entiled to ask to see WSIB clearance certificates and proof of insurance ~ verify coverage is current. One way to know whether a business is reputable is to look at the quote for service. Is it reasonable? While it might be tempting to choose the cheaper quote , ultimately you pay for what you get. Consider the costs involved with operating and keeping a legitimate company insured, that could be why your seeing a vast difference in quotes. As a consumer you should be aware that if ypu hire someone to work on your property, who does not have Insurance, you are responsible for insuring them with WSIB and are liable should they be injured while working on your property.
