As we celebrate St. Stephen 150 this year, it shows how important our history is! A proud part of the history of #Milltown is the Cotton Mill and the key role it played in the economic development of our area. In 2007, The Milltown Cotton Mill Workers Monument was unveiled as a way to recognize the hard work and contributions of all the people who worked at the Mill during its 75 years of operation. Next time you're in the #Milltown area of Town of St. Stephen, make sure to stop to check out the monument and the beautiful river views! Find it here: https://goo.gl/maps/phg2L6oQFVnf6d7r5 Want to learn more about the history of our area? Check out St. Stephen, In Times Past
If you think that you need to be in an urban centre to be an entrepreneur or start your own business, Abby Pond of Queen of Cups Lingerie is just one example we have in our #SmallTown to change your mind! Great episode from Startup Canada on their #StartUpWomen podcast featuring Abby telling her story about choosing to live in Town of St. Stephen, starting her business and working through the pandemic. Amazing job Abby!
Wow! Another exciting way to enjoy Ganong Nature Park and our area coming this summer with Nature Suites! We can't wait to see the finished tents.
In our community, we value so much having activities for our youngest residents and appreciating the environment around us. What an amazing offering that brings those two values together! Tír na nÓg Forest School Summer Camps at Ganong Nature Park are going to be a wonderful experience this summer.
It's the perfect time of year to get out for a nice walk on the waterfront trail and stop to grab a picture on our Town of St. Stephen's beautifully renovated wharf. Best spot to take the picture? Right in front of our lighthouse of course! If you feel like sharing, add your favourite picture to the comments! And if you don't have one yet, don't waste the sunny days and cool night air! Get out for a walk and grab a photo enjoying a little #SmallTown charm. :)
How's your Monday? If you aren't under ten minutes away from having a view like this, maybe it's time for a location change? #SmallTownLife
A holiday favourite and a part of our Town of St. Stephen history that we are very proud of! If you've always wondered, check out how Ganong's Chicken Bone candy is made. Is enjoying this sweet treat on your holiday to-do list?
Just last weekend our amazing community came together to raise $62,000 for Charlotte County families in need this holiday season. An amazing display of how much our community cares about their neighbours. Great work Santa's Helpers on CHCO TV, Operation Christmas Joy, Charlotte County Television, all the volunteers and of course the stars of the show! If you missed the original broadcast, check out the recording below to see our talented, young residents.
When it comes to shopping in Downtown St. Stephen we are so lucky to have a large number of local businesses that accepted #DowntownDollars. If you are looking for the perfect gift this holiday season, giving these unique gift certificates let your family and friends find the perfect present from their favourite places. #shoplocal
People stepping up to carry on traditions and share joy with others is an aspect of our Town of St. Stephen that we feel makes this one pretty great place to live. We are so fortunate in our community to have not just one place with beautiful lights for people to safely enjoy with their families, but two! If you've already visited the Walk of Lights on our downtown waterfront area, make sure to swing by and see the wonderful display at the Milltown Bandstand.
The Town of St. Stephen's event staff have been at it again and have created a great way to enjoy our beautiful waterfront with a festive twist! The Walk of Lights will be operating until January 2nd, 2020, so make sure to take a stroll through the colourful lights and share your photos with the Town of St. Stephen! Remember to follow all Public Health guidelines for our area and keep a smile on under your mask!
If you are looking to get a sense of our community's spirit, look no further than Santa's Helpers on CHCO TV. This annual event which has supported families in our community for 50 years has recently had a new group of community members step up to carry on the amazing tradition established by St Stephen Milltown Lion's Club assisted by WQDY and WCRQ. Now with the new televised program with the help of Charlotte County Television, we can all enjoy seeing these festive performances from the comforts of our homes. Plus this year they've partnered with Operation Christmas Joy to combine efforts in bringing holiday cheer to everyone around our area. Lots of reasons to be proud of living in Town of St. Stephen!
