We are thrilled to be working with the Town of Coaldale on the new Coaldale Recreation Centre! The facility will provide the growing community with an indoor field space, a large weight room, a running track and even a daycare. By partnering with Palliser School Division, both the Town and the School Division are benefitting from a larger recreation centre that will be connected to the new Kate Andrews High School. Take a look at the video featuring two of FWBA's architects ...on the project and catch a sneak peek of the new facility! Town of Coaldale Palliser School Division FWBA Architects

Here's a sneak peek of what's happening inside the new Waterton Lakes National Park Visitor Centre! One of the primary concepts for the new Visitor Centre is that the building takes advantage of Waterton's breathtaking views and encourages visitors to enjoy themselves outdoors in the natural surroundings. This is achieved by framing views of the mountains with large expanses of glass which flood the interior spaces with natural light. In addition, the wood structure is made... from a variety of species of trees and is complemented with natural stone feature walls, providing a warm natural backdrop to the interpretive displays which are currently being installed. Have you ever wondered where designers get their inspiration? Sometimes it's from a building material, a piece of furniture, other designers and sometimes art! Can you guess what the theme for this school was based on? The flooring designs at Dr. Robert Plaxton Elementary School are inspired by Piet Mondrian, one of the pioneers of 20th-century abstract art known for using simple geometric patterns. Our own take on a modern design incorporates striking colours fitting for th...e K-5 school. We hope the students will love it! I think one of the most interesting things about the facility is it’s all run on solar energy, said Hurkett. It generates 105 per cent of the school’s energy. It provides a lot of opportunity for us to engage our student population in different forms of energy. Excerpt taken from today's article about the new Dr. Robert Plaxton Elementary School in construction in south Lethbridge. We are so pleased to be the designer of this school and hope the students love the new dynamic learning environment!

We are loving the look of the Alpolic aluminum composite panels at Dr. Robert Plaxton Elementary School and the colour-change effect from the reflected sunlight! The iridescent panels are reminiscent of bubbles and mother-of-pearl which feels suitably playful for the elementary school. Metal Composite Panels: ALPOLIC Brick: I-XL Building Products Inc. FWBA Architects 29.12.2020

On this Giving Tuesday we are celebrating Covenant Foundation and the well-being of seniors in southern Alberta. Seniors are a particularly vulnerable population during this global pandemic, and we care deeply about providing seniors with the care and services they need now more than ever. That’s why this year, in lieu of our annual Festive Open House, FWBA Architects has pledged a $12,000 donation to Covenant Foundation as a gesture of hope and community support. This inves...tment in compassionate care, programs and equipment will support greater independence, comfort and quality of life for seniors who call Covenant communities home. FWBA Architects is working with Covenant Care on a new 102-bed home for seniors in Lethbridge. It will provide designated supportive living spaces, including supports for those with dementia, in a warm and nurturing environment. Opening in 2022, St. Anne's Haven will enable Lethbridge seniors to remain in their home community, in an environment that promotes comfort and independence, near families and friends who can visit and help care for aging parents and grandparents.

Happy World Architecture Day! Every year on the first Monday of October we are reminded of our collective responsibility for the future of the human habitat. On this day we are reflecting on the renderings for the new Waterton Visitor Centre and excitedly witnessing them come to life through construction! The visitor centre will offer modern interpretive exhibits and educational programming, as well as a full range of visitor information services for Canadians and visitors from around the world.

The new Dr. Robert Plaxton School in south Lethbridge, named after the Division’s longest-serving superintendent, is nearing the end of construction! Currently paint and flooring are being installed with the finishing touches wrapping up in November of this year. In this photo we can see the back of the school where a new Energy Playgound will be installed. The energy playground will include educational zones relating to energy from the sun, earth, wind/hydro and ourselves!
