Looks like further delays to hockey’s ability to resume off-season training
Congratulations to GAA student Morgan Pelletier, which just signed with the NY Aviators of the USPHL! All of your hard work, determination, and professionalism, is finally beginning to pay dividends.
We may not be able to get on the ice, but that doesn’t mean that goalies can’t continue to learn.
Congratulations Naida! Very proud of you and happy for you!!!
With a month to go before returning to the ice, now’s the best time for any equipment repairs.
Special thanks to @naida_duffett for helping us capture some great photos and video today.
Special thanks to @ivy_nellis for helping us to get some amazing video work completed today. #GoalieCoaches #GoalieTraining
Given today’s announcement made by the Provincial Government, the Minto Skating Centre will be closing its doors from Saturday, April 3rd to Friday, April 30th, 2021. We will be reaching out over the coming days to reschedule any owed sessions for the facility’s anticipated re-open date. We will return to the ice to ensure that your children continue to receive the great on-ice goaltender development they deserve, as soon as possible.... Thank you for your patience during this time.
Releases of team schedules have resulted in some spaces becoming available at our 6:15 and 7:15 sessions this evening at the Minto Skating Centre. Please send an email to [email protected] to reserve your session.Releases of team schedules have resulted in some spaces becoming available at our 6:15 and 7:15 sessions this evening at the Minto Skating Centre. The Minto Skating Centre has announced that their doors will be closed after Christmas, and will be re-opening them on Saturday, January 23rd, 2021. Therefore, Goalie Army Academy programs will resume on Sunday, January 24th, 2021. We will be reaching out to those which are affected over the coming days to discuss rescheduling booked training sessions for the new year. We would like to thank everyone in advance for your patience, flexibility, and understanding of this unfortunate, continuously changing situation, and wish you a fun and safe holiday season.
Warning: Not trying to offend anyone and coming at this post with a position of wanting to help prevent a sure problem. I love seeing you goalies on Instagram a...nd YouTube. It is neat to see kids ‘progress and their accomplishments. I know parents are doing this in loving way. Here is the issue. If mom and dad (usually Dad) is pounding out content as if they are the kid and showing sponsorships and almost trying to create and awareness or a brand you are in for a rude awakening. Scouts and decision makers aren’t going to fall in love with some Instagram athlete. In fact, it will be quite the opposite. The those parents warning bells will be going off full force. Scouts are REALLY wary of these types of athletes. I’m not posting this to piss off these parents. I’m posting this because I know how these movies end. Yes you may help inspire other young goalies with the training and ODR work etc, but at what cost? Opposition will quickly zero on if the oppositions goalie is a insta star etc. So do what you want, but weigh this advice carefully, and honestly ask yourself, why am I posting this stuff about my child and their athletics? You aren’t helping their chances in any way of proceeding in hockey because of these things and in many cases will hurt their chances. Post tournament wins and big games etc. But makinglifestyle type cataloguing of a young kids journey is a sure recipe for disaster. #goalieschool #goalietraining #goaliecoaches #nhl #halloffame #belfour #mckichan #goalie #goaltender #realcredentials #realvalue #realresults #rvhfail #buttendz #thegoat #aboutlastnight #trav4oilers #youtube #futurepro #futureprohockey #careyprice #bestgoalieschool #bestgoaliecoach
Thank you to everyone for your patience. Although we are still awaiting confirmation from the Minto Skating Centre, all the news we’re seeing is pointing toward Ottawa returning to an orange zone (the same restrictions which were in place prior to the holiday break). Here’s what a return to Orange will (likely) look like for training sessions:... Maximum of 7 goalies, 4 coach/shooters, 1 Lead Instructor-Coach on-ice per hour. 1 parent per child allowed in the facility, and able to watch the sessions while keeping safe distance from others. Use of change rooms with restrictions in place for number of people inside the room at one time and distancing from each other. Self-assessments. Check-ins for contact tracing upon arrival. We have sessions every Monday & Wednesday evening, and Sunday midday and are extremely happy to finally get back on the ice to work with our students again. Our first sessions back are planned for Wednesday, February 17th.
After today’s announcement by the provincial government of Ontario regarding post-Christmas closures/lockdown, we have reached out to and are awaiting correspondence from the Minto Skating Centre to determine when the facility will re-open & how we will be able to proceed with our programs from January through March 2021. We will supply additional information as it becomes available from the facility. Thank you for your understanding.
Update from the Minto Skating Centre: After today’s announcement regarding the re-opening of the province, Tuesday, February 16th has been slated as the tentative re-launch date for city of Ottawa businesses. All ice that was booked before Christmas set to take place after February 15th has been left in our scheduling system. We are now awaiting further information from the City that pertains to on-ice group sizes, permitting of gameplay and dressing room usage etc.
Hopefully, this means we’re a step closer to getting back on the ice soon.
Who’s missing road tournaments these days (even with those pesky calls from the front desk)?
This year, support your child’s confidence, development, and enjoyment of being a goaltender. January - March 2021 training is on sale now!
Sessions in 2020 filled up quickly. Don’t wait too long. Goaltender Skill Development starting at $40.
Being positive this season is the only way to get the most out of it.

The recent amendments to the provincial restrictions now in place have required us to adjust our plans & program offering. Over the next few days, we will be reaching out to some parents to reschedule some sessions due to the changes in numbers allowable on the ice at one time. The Minto Skating Centre has explained that no spectators will be allowed, and the use of change rooms will be limited (goalies will be required to arrive half dressed).... We understand that these adjustments are not ideal. But we ask for your patience, understanding, flexibility, and support at this time so that we may continue to offer great goalie training programs to all while being mindful of these provincial restrictions being implemented for the safety of all involved.
We have reached out to the Minto Skating Centre to determine how the new provincial restrictions will affect our programs, & we are awaiting a response at this time. More to come shortly.
I’m sure that we can all relate to this.
Good news!!! The recent decision to revert to Phase 2 hasn’t resulted in any changes to our training program offering. Participants may still arrive in street clothes, dress in change rooms, and leave in street clothes. Stay safe & Happy Thanksgiving!
This year we were faced with a difficult decision: keep costs low protecting GAA via a revised cancellation policy, or raise the cost of training. Raising the cost for everyone & profiting from the pandemic was unacceptable. Instead, we lowered costs of training, and participant numbers. We challenged ourselves to be better for our community by providing safe, low cost on-ice training for all without any of the gimmicks. Plain and simple: We made the choice to provide hi...gh-level focused shooters, and attentive, professional, knowledgeable goaltending coaching when goaltender development became non-existent via most traditional hockey programs. We supplied this at a low cost so that all can benefit from our training. Currently, we are booking sessions into October. If you’d like to reserve your space within our program, please do so as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
Thankfully our training services are one of the least expensive options in the city.
Finally! A skills development program for goalies. Make sure to register early.
Better late than never.
New programs start next week. Be sure to register before September 7th for discounted pricing, & get the most out of this season.
Any goalie parents starting to feel frustrated with this season’s shooter tutor plan?
Awesome! Keep up the great work Zoe!!!
