Modern fuel injection systems tend to make the throttle plate dirty. This is due to different anti-pollution devices redirecting oil vapours and certain gases in the intake manifold to be re-burned by the engine. A dirty throttle plate can lead to bad fuel economy, rough idle and even set a fault code and turn the warning light on.
