The Gabriola Island COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic for *ALL* adults is on from May 17-20 at the Community Hall. There was a very rotten glitch that made it hard for many of you to book - the system was not recognizing Gabriola as a location. VIHA assures us that this has been fixed and we really hope it did not make anyone give up in frustration. We need to get shots in everyone's arms - and with this clinic we can make that happen by the end of the day on May 20! You can register ...at https://gov.bc.ca/getvaccinated or call 1-833-838-2323. If you have already booked a shot in Nanaimo and want to change to the clinic on Gabriola please call to rebook. If you experience any difficulties tell the agent your postal code and ask to rebook into the "Whole Community Clinic at the Gabriola Community Hall". You can also keep your appointment in town if that works better for you. We have also been told by the Ministry of Health that the clinic is no longer able to provide TAP forms for travel to Nanaimo for vaccine - if you already have one for a future appointment it may not be honoured. This was not a decision that was made locally so please be understanding. Our island gets safer with every single jab in the arm of a Gabriolan. Do it for your health and for your community!

Well it has finally happened! Island Health has scheduled COVID-19 vaccine clinics on Gabriola Island starting May 17! Go to gov.bc.ca/getvaccinated to register. Now - do it now!!! At this point in the vaccine rollout about 20% of Gabriola has been vaccinated. We need to get 70-80% of our population vaccinated to reach a safer level of immunity. That should not be difficult - we all know how much Gabriola loves to reach a community goal!... If you are unable to book online you may book by phone by calling 1-833-838-2323. If you previously booked into a clinic in Nanaimo and want to change your appointment to the Gabriola clinic you can also call to rebook. Get yourself registered for your vaccination and then encourage those around you to do the same. We have all been in this together for over a year - and we will only get out of it if we all contribute to this common goal.

UPDATE: Gabriola Vaccine Clinic - 15 slots still available Island Health has been adding capacity all week to keep up with demand. More than 300 appointments are already scheduled and there are still 15 time slots left for residents >80 years old and Indigenous residents >65 years. If you or your loved one have not booked yet please call for an appointment. It is going to be a very busy clinic. There will be community volunteers directing traffic and moving people ...through the parking lot, registration and post vaccine waiting period. As fun as it will be to see everyone remember this is not a social time, we must stay on schedule and stay distanced. Parking at the Community Hall will be limited. The good news is that GERTIE will be on hand to shuttle people between a second parking site at the Southend Firehall and the Community Hall as needed. Well done to Island Health, PHC, GERTIE, The Community Hall, Gabriola Volunteer Fire Department, Gabriola Lions Club and other community volunteers for quickly organizing this amazing and hopeful event.

Island Health will be on Gabriola the week of March 22 to start vaccinating residents over 80 years old and Indigenous residents over 65 years old. If you are one of these valued folks from Gabriola, Mudge or DeCourcy please call the VIHA appointment line to register for your vaccine. 1-833-348-4787 7 a.m. 7 p.m. daily... This is a true community effort with organizations across the island working together, and with Island Health, to make this a wonderful and easy experience for our community. PHC wants to help make sure everyone can get to their vaccine appointment. If do not have a ride contact PHC at 250-247-7311 to speak to the staff. GERTIE will also be working to ensure transportation. There are approximately 300 Gabriolans that will qualify for immunization the week of March 22. It is wonderful to know they will be protected. Great vaccine news today! Gabriola will be included in the Whole Community Approach to COVID-19 immunization. This means we can look forward to having our entire adult community immunized by health authority organized clinics on Gabriola in the next several weeks. The dates and details of the Gabriola Vaccine clinics are being worked out by the health authority and local community leaders and will be shared as soon as possible. ...
