I have vivid memories of the few times I met this man and the instant I found out he had passed away. How you have changed so many lives then and now through your Kyokushin Karate. I am eternally grateful. OSU! Mas Oyama - founder of Kyokushin Karate June 4, 1923 - April 26, 1994
Osu! Gentle reminder to all.
As we are hopefully now on countdown for a return to normal dojo activities, I can’t help but feel sorry for those that haven’t made it through this last year, ...so many have had to throw in the towel through no cause of there own., We are one of the lucky ones with students dedicated to making sure the dojo is there waiting for our return., I have seen this picture many times this last year and I think it kind of sums it all up.. For those that have managed to stay afloat I salute you and can only hope nothing ever stops our growth ever again., For those that have sunk I can only give my condolences and hopes that you can pull it back once things ARE back to normal.. Any dojo is only has strong as its students and Sensei.. I am one of the lucky ones who’s students share the same passion and are determined to see this terrible time through to the end.. Osu! How 10 years flies by. This photo was just sent to us. The board was done by one of our young brown belt students Keana Velsen (blue belt at the time) for a 4H project. Nice job.
Osu! Keep on training!
Toronto Kyokushin Karate posted this and it resonated with me and I think that all of our students could benefit from this - and so I am reposting their post! ... Osu No Seishin; Never Give Up. When your body stops your mind pushes you on, when your mind stops your spirit pushes you on, that is basis for Kyokushin Karate. We learn this in Black belt grading where we have to push through 10-20-30-40-50 rounds of consecutive full contact fights. At some point during this our body is done it wants to give up the pain is intolerable and there is no gas left in the tank, yet we still find a way to keep going and survive and complete the test. Life is not about perfection, its about effort and resilience. To be successful, master anything, you have to keep working at it and never give up, never stop. A black belt is not always the beginner student that was the most talented, or the strongest or the most athletic, she is the student that didn't give up no matter how hard, how uncomfortable, how monotonous the training was at times. We are honing our mind and spirit with our training to make them strong and resilient as well as our bodies. In this way Karate training prepares us for life making us strong well rounded and ready. OSU!
