During my sessions, it is high priority to me that I keep those involved happy (parents+kid). I don’t mean happy because the child is evolving (well... right, that’s important too ). What I mean is that I need them to be enjoying every moment of our work together. I’ve always aimed for this because best learning is done when in good moods or when we are self-regulated (aka feeling well). Also, it’s no secret that I highly enjoy the work I do! So yes, making others happy p...uts me in a happy mood as well. This podcast explains WHY we want to have FUN in our own household, school and therapy. Please listen to it! I hope for two things with this post. First, that you find it as eye opening as I did; and secondly, that you can create big smiles and/or giggles in yourself and those who surround you every day. Cheers to a good laugh and being silly! https://podcasts.apple.com//the-executive-fu/id1489096143.

During these times, we keep hearing, "Check in with those around you." However, our children with language and/or learning difficulties might find it hard to just TALK about it. It is better if they can see it, or maybe have some options to lower the mental energy they need to express themselves. These free resources made available by GoZen are fantastic. They are artsy, cool and creative. Most importantly, they'll allow our children to access their full potential when expressing their feelings. You need to sign up to their newsletter but no payment required. Take a peek and enjoy! https://gozen.com/printables/

Here we go again... IEP meetings happening just around the corner. As parents and educators, we encounter over and over again the term "working memory". What about it? Why is it so important? Grab a pen, a notebook, a cup of tea and read this article. It clearly explains what working memory is as well as what strategies work to support and ease the amount of effort spent by people with working memory deficits. Long read but you will definitely feel more prepared to deal with working memory issues! https://www.ldatschool.ca/working-memory-overload/
