Meet Shirley Purkis (Shirley Nellie Ayres). She is 99 and lived through the 2nd World War. While she was a student at Queens, in between classes she knitted sca...rfs and afghans to send to the soldiers at war. So did all the women students. If they had an afternoon off they rolled band-aids for the Red Cross. While the men were in COTC ( Canadian Officer Training Corps), the women also learned First Aid, Home Nursing and Auto Mechanics Life was so different then. God Bless you Thank you Shirley:)
