It’s a good day to celebrate rural villages receiving access to clean water. Our team in Benin had some fun in Sehonouhoue while celebrating the third well drilled with our new rig! This rig is expected to provide about 70,000 people with access to safe water, per year. #revealhope #restorelife #wfli #cleanwater

Happy Easter! "The angel said to the women, 'Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.'" - Matthew 28:5-6 (NIV) #HappyEaster #revealhope #restorelife

As India is experiencing it’s second wave of COVID, the number of infections and deaths have reached a devastating high. Today, the country, with a population of 1.36 billion people, has reported 360,960 new cases and 3,293 deaths (the highest number so far). Hospitals are unable to accommodate patients due to a shortage of beds and medical oxygen supply. Maharashtra, where Pandita Ramabai Mukti Mission’s main campus is located, is currently the state with the highest number... of cases. As the Canadian Chapter for Mukti Mission, we are sad to share that a number of staff and residents at Mukti have contracted the virus. As of Wednesday, April 28, there have been 31 positive cases on campus, and even some deaths among residents and staff. Lorraine Francis, Mukti’s Mission Director, and Anil Francis, Chief of Operations, are two of the staff who have contracted the virus. We would like to ask you to join us in praying for Mukti Mission. Please pray for God’s protection, healing, comfort and peace over Mukti and the country of India. *https://www.who.int/countries/ind/ #revealhope #restorelife #india #muktimission #covid

We are excited to share footage of the first well being drilled with the new rotary rig in Benin today. We expect that this rig will exponentially increase our drilling efficiency, providing even more communities with access to clean water (approximately 70,000 per year). The rig’s higher drilling capabilities will allow us to drill deeper wells, up to 200 metres, in places where we could not before! #revealhope #restorelife #wfli #cleanwater

The Cycling 4 Water team continues to train for their big ride across the country, which will take them from the Arctic Ocean, to the Pacific Ocean, to the Atlantic Ocean. Starting in June, the team of four will cover around 10,000 km in 65 days. The goal is to raise awareness and funds to provide access to clean water for 65 rural communities through water wells. Would you like to learn more on how you can support the team and the cause? Go to http://cycling4water.ca for more information. #revealhope #restorelife #cycling4water

Today is World Water Day! We are incredibly blessed to have an abundance of easily accessible clean water in Canada. Sadly, 785 million people around the world don’t have any access to disease-free water. This year's theme for #worldwaterday is ‘Valuing Water’. The goal is to raise awareness of water's immense value and encourage people to share what water means to them. Some of our staff recently caught up with Power to Change Ministries to share how providing deep-capped wa...ter wells, local church partnerships, and community development opportunities are transforming villages and communities around the world. GAiN envisions a world where human flourishing is restored by eradicating water poverty through the power of the gospel. To learn more and what you can do to help support, go to https://give.globalaid.net/p-1560-clean-water.aspx. GAiN is the humanitarian partner of Power to Change. #revealhope #restorelife

Water means different things to different people. To a community in a rural African village that lacks access to clean water, it could mean a variety of things. Water means health, productivity, peace among neighbours, a chance for education or economic opportunities, and more. Tomorrow is World Water Day. We envision a world where human flourishing is restored by eradicating water poverty. When people get access to clean water and the Living Water, their lives change. What... does water mean to you? Let us know in the comments below. #worldwaterday #revealhope #restorelife

This month marks the 10 year anniversary of the Syrian war. Since the civil war started in 2011, more than half of Syria’s population has been displaced, according to Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of International Development. A decade of war has caused so much pain and suffering for individuals and families in Syria. According to UNICEF, many families have had to flee from violence multiple times (up to seven times). Over half a million children under... five years old suffer from stunting due to chronic malnutrition. The economic impact of the war has meant that many families are struggling to afford or even get access to basic food items for their households. Many have lost their jobs and 90 per cent of people in the country are living in poverty, according to the BBC. GAiN has been involved in Syria since 2013, partnering with a local church in Damascus to help provide basic food and non-food items through Bags of Blessings. Each bag provides for a family of five for one month. For those who have received bags in the past eight years, not only has the aid helped alleviate the financial burden, but displaced families were also connected to the local church where they were introduced to the love of Jesus. We hope to see more lives changed so that people in Syria can thrive physically, spiritually and emotionally. Will you help provide Bags of Blessings to displaced families in Syria so that they can experience the flourishing and fullness of life that they were created for? https://give.globalaid.net/p-1559-bags-of-blessings.aspx #revealhope #restorelife #syrianwaranniversary #syria #refugees #idps

Happy International Women’s Day! While women and girls are still disproportionately affected by poverty, we want to celebrate and highlight the positive changes that are happening in the world. Today, we’re celebrating the women that are helping make a change, not just for themselves but for other women in their community. As a mother, Luisa works hard to not only maintain a business, but to see it grow and expand into new areas so that she can better provide for her family.... Luisa is part of the microloan program with DIaconia, GAiN’s partner in Paraguay. GAiN envisions a world with flourishing communities where people are physically, spiritually and emotionally thriving. Through this program, many women who are living in poverty are given the chance to start or grow their own businesses, become financially independent and free from debt. Luisa is part of a trust group made up of other women who also run businesses. They support each other and help hold each other accountable to pay back their loans. Today, we're observing World Day of Social Justice. We believe that every person is made in the image of God and worthy of dignity. Each person, regardless of gender, orientation, race, age and religion, deserves to have their human rights realized. This might look like a village getting access to clean water for the first time and having a church planted in their community; a woman who is living in poverty getting the opportunity to start and grow her own business; or a re...fugee receiving care packages after they have lost everything. Thank you for joining us as we continue to commit to integral mission and biblical justice. #revealhope #restorelife #worlddayofsocialjustice

As we continue to celebrate #InternationalDevelopmentWeek, we are highlighting the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal #5 - gender equality and empower all women and girls. Gender equality is a fundamental human right. We know that women and girls all over the world still face discrimination, lack career and financial opportunities, and experience other forms of injustice. GAiN envisions a world with flourishing communities where people are physically, spiritually and emotional...ly thriving. For eight years, we’ve partnered with Diaconia in Paraguay to support and empower women entrepreneurs through our microfinance project. The women are able to receive microloans, vocational training and financial literacy training to help start or grow their businesses, and are connected to a chaplain and local church. #revealhope #restorelife #IDW #genderequality #womensrights

This week, we’re celebrating International Development Week and today we are focusing on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal #6 clean water and sanitation. One in three people are still living without sanitation, which continues to cause unnecessary disease and death. We envision a world where water poverty is eradicated and human flourishing is restored through the power of the gospel. For over 15 years, GAiN has been working toward this goal and are still committed t...o it. Thanks to your support, we have seen the impact that access to clean water and the Living Water has had on individuals, families and entire communities. #revealhope #restorelife #IDW #internationaldevelopmentweek

This week is International Development Week (#IDW), a time to acknowledge Canadian contributions to international humanitarian assistance in developing countries. The theme is #GoForTheGoals, focusing on the UN’s sustainable development goals for 2030. We are committed to being an organization that raises awareness and makes an impact on global issues. We do this because we believe that everyone is made in the image of God and is worthy of dignity, and deserves to experience... the fullness of life that they were created for. #revealhope #restorelife #internationaldevelopmentweek

As we observe World Children’s Day today, we think specifically about the children that we encounter in all of the countries that we work in. We believe that each child is created in the image of God and deserves to experience the love of Jesus and fullness of life that He promises (John 10:10). Our mission is to reveal hope by sharing God’s unconditional love and restore life by demonstrating the gospel through compassionate action to those who are living in poverty, injustice and crisis around the world. With the COVID-19 crisis, it is the most vulnerable children in the world that are hit the hardest. Each child deserves safety, health care, education, spiritual support, clean water and nutrition, so that they can flourish and thrive in life. #worldchildrensday #revealhope #restorelife

Today is World Kindness Day. We are humbled by stories from the field of everyday people who use their blessings to practice kindness in their communities. Recently, we learned about a lady in Paraguay who offered up her business space so that her local church could set up a video stream during COVID lockdown. Are you inspired to commit an act of kindness in your community today? Let us know what you plan to do for #WorldKindnessDay! But love your enemies, and do good, and l...end, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil. - Luke 6:35 ESV #revealhope #restorelife

The 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties was meant to be hosted in Glasgow this week, but has been postponed to next year due to COVID-19. With our work in the WASH (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene) sector, we’ve seen how climate and water are linked. When changes in climate cause extreme weather conditions, it results in water scarcity and water pollution affecting the most vulnerable people in the world. We created an ebook that addresses why it’s critical to cons...ider climate change when it comes to water and development, and explain how we are already seeing the negative impact of climate change in the field. To download our free ebook, go to https://globalaid.net/ebook2. #climatechange #cleanwater #revealhope #restorelife #WASH #cop26

Today, we’re observing International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. To adequately address poverty, we need to remember that poverty is not just an economic issue -- it bleeds into other parts of life. According to the UN, people living in poverty can experience the following: unsafe housing, dangerous work conditions, a lack of nutritious food, unequal access to justice and limited access to healthcare. These experiences can also keep people stuck in poverty and prevent ...them from being able to realize their rights. While there has been progress in addressing income poverty, there needs to be a more holistic approach to addressing other dimensions of poverty. GAiN’s mission is to reveal hope by sharing God’s unconditional love and restore life by demonstrating the gospel through compassionate action to those who are living in poverty, injustice and crisis around the world. Our lens of integral mission means we seek to address spiritual, physical, social and economic poverty in a holistic manner.
