It’s Transgender Awareness Week. Our hearts are with those struggling in a body that doesn’t match them, and for those who are in danger/struggling because of who they are. We see you. Everybody is worthy of love and safety. Photo Credit:diversifyyournarritive

In the news: In a major decision for LGBTQ families, a Manitoba judge ruled a piece of legislation that doesn't recognize non-biological parents who conceive through assisted reproduction violates their charter rights. https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.cbc.ca/amp/1.5796943

Poll time We are working on a name change. We have a deep love for our history as an organization, but as society progresses, so too must we. We are looking at making our name more inclusive. We have had wonderful submissions from the public and have two finalists. We are looking for your input - which do you like? Diversity+ PRRADA - Peace Region Rainbow and Diversity Alliance Neither (please make a suggestion if this is your option)

Coffe nights. Monday October 19, we have special guests: director, assistand director and cast from GPLT production Every Brilliant Thing. 7:00 pm zoom link to come! Every Brilliant Thing:... Artist Showcase Introducing: Karlee Kapler | Assistant Director We laughed a lot during rehearsals, and cried a little bit sometimes too and that is always my favourite part of participating in any production, the conversations and connections we are able to have. This show is important as it highlights how imperative it is to talk about hard things. It’s important that as a community we work on removing the stigma surrounding mental health and to stop making suicide a taboo subject to talk about. We can’t raise awareness and work on prevention if we don’t talk about it. Karlee has studied English Literature through Athabasca University. She was delighted when she had her little boy in 2018, and she put her studies on hold for a short time. Currently, she is working full-time as a journalist for the Fairview Post, Peace River Record-Gazette, and the Daily Herald Tribune. This is the fourth production that she has worked on with Grande Prairie Live Theatre. This is first time working as an assistant director and she has learned so much through the process and is very excited to share the final show with the world.

On #orangeshirtday, and everyday following, we honour the indigenous children and families who were victims of residential schools. To honour them, don’t just w...ear an orange shirt; continue to challenge colonialism and white supremacy, and work to centre indigenous history and voices in your learning. Bisexual awareness continues with this old statement. Bisexual people are just looking for attention. This statement has been wielded against other gender and sexualities, but disproportionately is aimed at bi/pan people. Bi people just love people of more than one gender. It’s that simple.
