Canadian photographer David Burdeny (1968-) describes his photography as ‘discovery-driven’; he has traveled to places including Antarctica, Iceland, Brazil, China, France, Italy and Cambodia in pursuit of his work. Influenced by notable photographers such as Michael Kenna, Hiroshi Sugimoto, and Fay Goodwin, Burdeny purposefully photographs in poor light and near darkness. As such, he translates his intimate appreciation for structural details and metaphorical value of space ...into sublime observations, using the sensuality of colour to full effect. Born in Winnipeg, Burdeny is currently based in Vancouver. He graduated with a Masters in Architecture and Interior Design and spent the early part of his career practicing in this field before establishing himself as a photographer. #davidburdeny @david_burdeny #galeriedebellefeuilletoronto #photography

Rubinstein’s works highlight the major icons and celebrities of the second half of the twentieth century. In line with Optical Art, Rubinstein’s art in movement goes beyond this category to embrace the techniques of kinetic art. The result is striking: the image, fixed at fist, comes to life according to the movements of the viewer. We become the animator vis-à-vis the unprecedented dynamics of his work, that surprise us with every viewing. #galeriedebellefeuille #patrickrubinstein #popart

Breeze of Fall The unique landscapes of Toronto-based artist Brent McIntosh depict realist subject matter, yet they retain a distinct expressionism that fundamentally alters their representational nature. From afar or when reproduced photographically, McIntosh’s landscapes appear conventionally rendered, conveyed with purposeful accuracy. It is only in close proximity that his use of abstraction is revealed to the viewer: the representational forms are composed of a wide ...spectrum of fantastical hues which further amplifies the realism of the paintings. The paintings of Naples-based artist Carmelo Blandino are widely known for their immediacy and their sensual, lascivious expressions of colour, movement, and shape. As the artist states: My work is a continuance of the practice of the Buddhist monks who would bring a single flower to their meditation session. They would ask the students to stare at it in silence for a long period of time. Eventually, the student comes to realize that he is gazing upon his own true form: a hi...gher Self materializes within the form of the flower and the flower transcends beyond its visual appearance. #carmeloblandino @carmeloblandinoart #flowerpainting 1. In the studio with Hunt Slonem In the early 1980s, Slonem began working on a new series of so-called "Rabbit paintings. The idea for this critically acclaimed series came to him after he had discovered that the year of his birth, 1951, was the year of the Rabbit in the Chinese zodiac calendar. In an act of spiritual meditation, he often repeats imagery in this series, like in many of his signature works. This theme continued to inspire him over the years, and the series ...is as prominent in his work today as it was over thirty years ago. : Hunt Slonem Studio @huntslonem #huntslonembunnies #bunnypaintings #americanartist
