Well, here we are and it’s September. When I first made the announcement that Galleria would be closing at the end of September, I didn’t want or like to think that far ahead. I just wanted to get through each day and take it as it came, but now it’s something that I can’t ignore anymore. The store has been crazy busy since the closing announcement and I’ve had the great pleasure of seeing so many longtime customers coming into the store, sometimes 3 and 4 times, just to get ...one last shopping trip in. There have been hundreds and hundreds of messages on Facebook, Instagram and there were even some of you that have taken the time to sit down and write me a card or a letter, to say how very sorry you are that Galleria will no longer be around. Believe me when I say that many tears have been shed by myself, my staff, my artisans and my customers and I know that there will be many more before it is all done. To someone that does not know the Galleria, I am sure you think that this is all quite a bit of melodrama, but for those that have known what we’ve been all about, it is a bit traumatic. There are so many people that have been involved with the Galleria over the 40+ years, its been in business, that I am grateful for. The Galleria has never been about just one person, it has been about thousands. Thank you to each and every one of you. No matter how small a part you played, you have been an important part. Then and Now !! On Saturday Aug.15th, I had the distinct and very happy pleasure of a visit from Josh and his mom Samantha. Josh and his mom have been shopping at Galleria for more than 15 years. In fact they were featured on the front page of our very first issue of the Galleria Kensington newsletter. Remember newsletters? They were the way to let people know what was happening and were way before Facebook took over social media. For posterity, Josh and Samantha were gracio...us enough to let me take a "now" picture of them, in front of the Galleria Inglewood. It is people like these two that I will miss very much, when the store closes for good. Not only are Josh and Samantha customers, they have become friends as well. Thank you very much for your support over all these past years. And thank you for taking the time to come in for another visit. Josh, you have grown up to be a very fine young man and your mother should be very proud of you. See more
