Our celebration of Indigenous art, MIGWETCH, has been astounding our patrons for several months now, and we are pleased to let you know that as a result we are extending the exhibition to FEBRUARY 28, 2019. This is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to experience the work of many outstanding First Nations artists, including Leland Bell, Stan Panamick, Randy Trudeau, Norval Morrisseau, Doug Fox, Carl Beam, Carl Ray, Josh Kakegamic, Mishibinishima, and others. MIGWETCH: An Exhbition and Sale of works of art by leading First Nations artists. CHRIS MORTON AT ART WALK! The end of Chris Morton's exhibition "Luminosity" coincides with this weekend's exciting art immersion event in Owen Sound called Art Walk!. Saturday, June 23 will see a number of galleries offering artist talks, demonstrations, and tours, as well as a Multicultural Art Festival at Georgian Shores United Church. The seven participating galleries are Gallery de Boer, Tom Thomson, Artists' Co-op, Grey Gallery, 2nd Avenue Gallery, Intersections Wood Gallery and Santa Fe Gallery. Chris Morton will be demonstrating his technique at Gallery de Boer on this, the last day of his exhibition. Please join us on June 23 anytime from 10 am to 4 pm for this excellent opportunity to peek into the art-maker's world. Due to popular demand, Chris Morton will be back at the gallery again this weekend, Saturday May 19, from noon to 4 pm. Chris will be demonstrating his painting approach and technique to all interested visitors. This is a great opportunity to get a glimpse into the art practice of an exceptional landscape painter, and Chris is always happy to chat! Chris Morton's exhibition of landscape paintings, "Luminosity," continues at Gallery de Boer. Morton's deft way with light and water will leave you feeling as though you're indeed "sittin' on the dock of the bay." Make sure you drop in to view this exceptional work.

Chris Morton will be joining us here at Gallery de Boer this Friday, April 27, from 6 to 10 pm, at an Opening Reception of his exhibition "Luminosity," featuring 35 of his exceptional landscape paintings. This is the perfect opportunity to chat with Chris about his work, and about the geography, weather and light that inspires him. Refreshments will be served the evening of the 27th. Chris will return to the gallery the following day, April 28, from 1 to 4 pm, so you have two chances to become acquainted with this outstanding artist. Join us!

Lovers of fine landscape paintings will not want to miss our current exhibition, "Luminosity: Landscapes by Chris Morton." Chris crafts meticulous, light-filled rural and cottage-country scenes that seem to shimmer with breezes, shifting shadows, birdsong and the movement of water. Chris has been the recipient of several awards and accolades, most recently the Owen Sound Cultural Award for Emerging Artist (2018). His work is a must for those who value meticulously rendered, soft-hued and evocative natural views.

Jennifer Darragh’s paintings are a very personal evocation of the often dark world she inhabits a world of alcoholism, abuse and life on the street. The paintings range in feeling from despair, fear, alienation and loneliness to moments of hope, survival, spirituality and joy of life. Jennifer navigates the legacy of substance, se...xual and physical abuse and their outcomes: anxiety, depression, PTSD, and BPD (borderline personality disorder), and paints as a way to express her feelings about her experiences, relationships and current state of mind.
