The calm before the storm. This was captured at shift change this morning. Mother Nature may be sending us some nasty winds and rain today, but she does give us some nice things too. Sean O'Meara

The normal location for the National Police and Peace Officers Memorial Service looks very different this year. The memorial rides and runs continued, all in their own way. Separate, yet still united. The memorial service was a virtual one this year. But the grey skies still marked the somber moment. Hopefully next year we can gather and remember the fallen, together.

We know we posted this photo already. But this fine fellow is James. James contacted us on Facebook when he heard about the Ride. Turns out James is a piper and wished to play for the riders. We were honored that he would offer to do so for our little Service. Turns out James did more than that. He played for the riders as they climbed the hill at Fort Henry and when they departed. Then he hopped in his Batmobile (No, not the actual Batmobile. All we know is that it wasn't a ...Chevette) and made is way to Gananoque ahead of the riders so he could play for them again as they arrived in Gananoque. Now, you may wonder why we gave James some superhero status. Well, it's not just because of his volunteering his time for us. As James waited for the group of riders to depart, he was approached by a nice lady. She explained she had her elderly mother in the car. Her mother doesn't get out much these days but she loves the pipes. They were inquiring if James was going to play. Yes, of course, for the riders. The nice lady advised her mother no longer sees well, but she can hear the pipes and would be very happy. Then she returned to her vehicle. Well, James played as the riders departed on their way to Brockville. Then James earned his superhero status. James went over to the vehicle, introduced himself and played a private concert for the mother. Thank you James.
