Proud to participate with TSSA - Technical Standards & Safety Authority and Hawkins-Gignac Foundation for CO Education to bring more awareness about Carbon Monoxide Safety. CO Alarms are required in your home if you have a fuel burning appliance or attached garage.
GFD responded to a vehicle fire on Charles St. N on March 12/21 around 10:30am. Knocked down quickly and no one was injured.
Yesterday evening around 6pm, Gananoque Fire responded to a kitchen fire in the North Ward. Unattended cooking was deemed to be the cause of the fire. Although only left for a few minutes, the fire was too intense to extinguish by the resident. Did you know: unattended cooking is the leading cause of fires in the home. If you need to leave the kitchen, please turn off the heating source. No one was injured during the fire, everyone escaped safely, including all animals. Smoke and Fire Alarms were operational!

Tuesday Reminder: Make sure all your smoke alarms are working, they are proven to save lives! Please take 2 minutes and test yours today. You must have one outside all sleeping areas and at least 1 on every storey of your home. Newer homes have 1 in every bedroom, even better!
Tell us what today's tip is in the comments!
Help support the local food bank!!
Always a fun time meeting junior firefighters! It was our pleasure.
Reminder to make sure you have working carbon monoxide alarms outside all sleeping areas. Gananoque Fire attended a residence on Friday Nov. 6th for a CO alarm ringing. It was found that the gas stove was not working properly and giving off carbon monoxide. If the alarm was not present or working, it could have had a deadly result. Stay Safe!
The 12 Days of Holiday Safety are back! Listen fo 99.9 myFM for your chance to take home some great safety products. Thanks to Canadian Tire Gananoque
Absolutely amazing!! We will remember them. (Sent in to us by a former member)
Watch this video that shows what happens when you use water to extinguish a grease fire on your stove. Now imagine that was inside your kitchen and not inside the steel can where they are doing the demonstration. #firepreventionweek2020... Ways to properly extinguish these types of fires: (if safe to do so) - turn off the heat source - put a lid on the pot/pan - remove pot/pan from stove - use a fire extinguisher - use baking soda
Every season Gananoque Fire helps support the Christmas For Kids Gananoque Toy Drive by collecting funds during the Santa Claus Parade. Unfortunately we cannot collect donations this year. Please consider donating at CIBC, they are aware and will accept donations if you name the Christmas for Kids Toy Drive by name. They are also accepting toy donations at the Gananoque Curling Club Thursday afternoons.... Any support is greatly appreciated. Christmas For Kids Gananoque Toy Drive
Cooking is the leading cause of Home Fires. Please do not leave it unattended! #FirePreventionWeek2020
