Porky and Stella reporting in from The Ganaraska Trail near Sheldon Lake.... The colours are beautiful but the mud is deep! By the looks of their paws, this is a good reminder to dig out the boots and remember to pack some towels and plastic bags for those wet, muddy boots and paws! Thanks girls, happy trails

Members of the Wasaga Beach and Midland Ganaraska Hiking Clubs attended the rememberance for Lois Kowal, who passed away in April 2020, and had been the membership director for the Ganaraska Hiking Trail Association for 20+ years. It was great to hear that a bench in her honour will be installed at Schooner Town Parkette, right next to the memorial for Harold Culham, who was instrumental as Mr. Trailblazer for both the Mad River and Wasaga Beach Ganaraska Hiking clubs. In the afternoon, we enjoyed a very nice hike to the Oxbow on the Nottawasaga River, by following the green blazes that form a loop from Schooner Town Parkette.
Thanks Joe for remind us to be safe on the Trails and in the Parks this fall!

Hikers, if you are planning to be on the Wasaga Beach Section over the coming weeks, please know the Town is making our connector trail on the McIntyre Creek bigger and better! Please watch during regular Town business hours as a Team is on the Creek working hard to prep it for Winter. The condemned bridge is being taken down in the next few weeks BUT there is a re route just up and around it. HAPPYT RAILS
Bears’ appetites are biologically programmed to go into hyperdrive in the fall because they need to put on a thick layer of life-sustaining fat before they turn in for the winter. This annual power-eating marathon is called hyperphagia. Browse thru this article to understand how we as humans need to be aware of our Bears in our communities. https://bearwise.org/fall-is-power-eating-time-for-bears/
