GFT participated in their FOD (Foreign Object and Debris) Walk. A total of 16 garbage bags were collected contributing to a greener enviroment and keeping our ramp area safe from debris. November 17, 2020 For Immediate Release Despite COVID Outstanding Year for Gander Flight Training... Gander, NL: Despite significant challenges in 2020, Newfoundland and Labrador’s only flight training school in Gander is enjoying a busy year. As a result of COVID 19 Gander Flight Training (GFT) was not able to train international students from around the world for their pilot licence for most of the year. However, Patrick White, President and CEO for GFT, says they are enjoying a healthy enrollment with domestic students. Eighty full-time and 15 part-time students have, or are, receiving training for a pilot’s license in 2020, says White. White also noted there are international students trying to register for classes in January but its still up in air because of uncertainty with COVID 19. White points out pilot training has been so busy this year GFT hired four new full-time flight instructors. GFT is well known internationally for training commercial pilots from all over the world, including Thailand, India, Turkey, Morocco, Columbia and Kenya. Rangsit University in Bangkok has been sending students to GFT since 2006.
