Stories need to be told. This one is a success story. The situation in Syria and for refugees still seeking sponsorships is dire. Covid and starvation.

Thank you again to the Pentecostal Furniture Ministry. If you have large furniture and appliances that work, they offer a pick up service and delivery to folks in need. Donations or clothes, toys, small appliances to Gander Goodwill also benefit groups like the SPCA, Special Olympics and many others who get donations from Goodwill profits. Goodwill puts around $70 000 into other non profits in our area annually. Consider donating to get rid of things no longer needed. One man's trash is another family's need.

I forget until I see their birthday messages. Did you know that many refugees have no proof of birth from their countries of origin? Therefore, they have no bi...rthdate. The UN assigns them Jan 1 of the year they were born. Many new Canadians and permenant residents are celebrating birthdays today. Many are not born in hospitals or maybe it's not safe to register in fear of draft to military service later. Some are born in camps and other countries while they wait for an opportunity to settle in a new country where they can raise their children safely. Some know their actual birthdate and have no way to reclaim it without documentation. I hope they celebrate twice. Just like other arrivals in Canadian history, mistakes are made in translation and names are misspelled and then mispronounced and changed too. Happy Birthday. I'm glad you are here. #RefugeesWelcome See more
