We’re back with another Wayback Wednesday and in celebration of the opening of our latest exhibit, Toys of Yesteryear, presented by The Town of Gananoque Civic Collection, this week’s feature is an Electric Toy Stove from the 1930s. As part of the collection, The Empire Toy Stove was a fully functioning electric stove with two stove top burners and two side ovens. Capable of cooking miniaturized meals and catering tea parties and teddy bear picnics - just like this 21st centu...ry easy bake oven. We look forward to sharing more of the exhibit with you! Built in 1912 by the Federal Government, this 185 South St. location was purchased by the Town in 1966 to house the police and fire departments. It is currently the Thousand Islands Playhouse Firehall Theatre!! We missed attending their performances this season but were happy to see them host last weeks Reverse Halloween.
