Being able to comfortably get into a pancake position will make your Press to Handstand much easier. That's why I am giving away a FREE follow along pancake class. I have reopened my Press to Handstand coaching program and having a good pancake helps! Sign up here to get my FREE follow along class: https://mailchi.mp/garagegy/free-follow-along-pancake-class Note: If you have signed up to receive information about my press program before you should have already received the F...REE routine. This class is very similar to how I run my in person classes and if the interest is there I would love to create more online follow along classes. So sign up and then let me know what you think. #pancake #questforthepress

On Friday it was announced that Toronto gyms had to close again for October. So I have decided to offer some FREE live handstand classes. If you can, continue to support your local gym and come and get some free handstand fun here. These will be entry-level classes focusing on building the strength and flexibility for handstands so don’t worry if you don’t have the space/ courage for freestanding handstands (yet). To get all the details (plus video replays if you are unable to attend live) sign up here: https://mailchi.mp/garagegymgirl/freeclass

Happy thanksgiving to my fellow canucks! This year we are having a vegan thankgiving pandemic pizza with pumpkin crust topped with squash and cranberries. Wish me luck! Another great way to celebrate thanksgiving is the annual pumpkin get-up. Give it a try! Credit to @marybethgangemi for suggesting this fun exercise. Any accidents can go towards the making of pumpkin pie.... Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

At long last, The Handstand Journey Mini E-Book.. It is a fun, illustrated exploration of the journey towards balancing upside down. Complete with instructional videos, skydiving cats, donuts and more! My handstand cartoons started as a way to more clearly explain ideas to my students. And while I could have drawn a simple stick figure I could never resist the urge to add in a big smile when it worked, a single tear when it went wrong or when all else failed, a cat anus...! At first I was somewhat surprised when my simple illustrations got more like and comments than my video tutorials. But sometimes we need to add a smile, a laugh and a little ridiculousness to our practice. Handstands are fun & playful but also challenging & often frustrating as hell! I wrote this mini book as a guide to help you navigate the stages of learning a handstand, to help you get started, to help you overcome fear, to help you figure out how to balance and to remind you to pause and enjoy it. You are balancing on your hands! You can find more details & buy your copy of the handstand journey in the link below. p.s. $5 from every sale will be donated to The War Amps of Canada. Buy your copy now. https://garagegymgirl.lpages.co/the-handstand-journey/

I'm sad that there is no @womensmovementcollaborative events this year but I am glad that I can still connect and collaborate with these amazing women online!

Always working on my pull-ups. Here's a simple routine that I was using last year. I'm a big fan of getting more results with less so for the last month I have been doing the following twice a week: 2 x 10 Pulling prep (warm-up)... 3 x (1-3) Eccentric pull-ups (aiming for 30s each rep) - not in video 3 x 5 Weighted pull-ups My elbows feel great and my pull-ups are starting to get some height. It doesn't take 200 different pulling exercises to get stronger with pulling! Poppy & Chester work well for weighted pull-ups because Poppy is light and Chester is Chonkers (a fat but photogenic cat). The same principles can be used for chin-ups or ring rows. Try consistently doing a little bit for a month and see what happens. See more

I posted this in December 2019... my apologies. While 2020 has been a tough year, the extra time at home gave me the chance to finally put together a mini e-book of my cartoons. Tomorrow I am announcing a fun contest to win yourself a free copy of the book. Release date is Thursday October 8, I'm excited to share this with you all.
