This was a huge personal record jerk for Joshua at 41kg/90lbs back when kids working out was allowed. Rather than dwell on the negative I want to send a long overdue thank you to the MacLachlan family for supplying those awesome home made jerk blocks you see in our videos and for getting us those 5kg bumpers donated you see leaning against the blocks for the club. Keeping our weightlifting club going has been and continues to be an enormous challenge but thanks to support like this we’ve been able to get the equipment the kids need. The challenges continue but we’ve got a great group of athletes and coaching them is a privilege.

Way to go Declan & Marlowe! Can’t wait to see what you do next year.

Declan will be competing at his first National Championship on Sunday at 11:30. Streaming on Facebook. Update: Declan went 6 for 6 finishing off with 75 snatch and 95 c/j for a 170 total. 12kg improvement, a new weight class and his last competition at the age of 13! Have a great birthday tomorrow!!!

Marlowe competes at her first National Championships tomorrow at 11:45. Streaming on Facebook. Update: it was a rough experience with many technical issues but Marlowe made 2 out of 3 snatches equaling her best at 48kg then made all her clean & jerks finishing off with a personal record 62kg and total PR 110kg. This is her first meet in the 59kg class so she has lots of room for improvement before next year’s championships!
