Merry Christmas from Garage Mahal! As of December 19th we have been in business for nine years! Shocks and struts wear out so gradually you may not notice anything is wrong. But, you will notice a big difference once the new ones are installed. Bad shocks don't only make a vehicle less comfortable to drive and ride in, they're unsafe. Bad rear shocks will cause the rear of the vehicle to "fishtail" more easily on a gravel road and bad shocks or struts in the front will increase the distance it takes to stop during hard braking. If you think your vehicle feels "not quite right" it could be bad shocks. They're easy to inspect during and oil change or anytime. The average life of a shock is 80,000 kms. As an essential service, Garage Mahal will be open regular hours during the "Code Red" period. All Provincial guidelines will be followed and anyone coming into the shop MUST wear a mask. My thoughts go out to everyone effected by Covid-19 and I hope everyone does their part to keep themselves and others safe. While we are open for business as usual, others are not so lucky. When a small business is forced to shut down or reduce their services it's not the "economy" that suff...ers, it's someone's livelihood and in most cases their family's income. As a small way to help, anyone that brings in a receipt from a locally owned small business in Brandon of any amount during the Code Red period will get 10% off the labor charge on their invoice. The big box stores will be just fine, but the small businesses will need our help, whether it's take out, delivery, or curb side pick up. Here's something you don't see everyday, but unfortunately I have seen it before. Someone's put the wrong size brake rotors on a vehicle. Many vehicles have different options for brakes based on engine size etc. The smaller brake parts are usually cheaper (making them a more attractive choice). Brake systems are usually one of the easier systems to change parts on, but even the simplest repair can be done wrong. And, in the case of brake components, "done wrong" can be deadly.
