As we all know, 2020 has been a challenging year. We’ve all had to make many adjustments, and we’re so grateful for your cooperation with and understanding of our new normal routine. You have demonstrated sincere care for your pets, for our veterinary staff, and for each other. For that, we are touched and honoured. We thank you for the trust you place in our veterinary team throughout the year, especially in this most challenging 2020 year. We appreciate our relationship and the opportunity to care for your precious fur babies. We take pride in treating every pet that comes through our doors as our very own, and we extend our best wishes to you and yours for health and happiness in the coming year.

Firstly, we want to thank everyone for their likes and comments on our post about our precious Luigi. We’re comforted by all the love you gave him, and we’re happy that he touched your hearts. We were treated to a much needed pick-me-up this week when these little cuties came in for an examination. These six babies are looking for their forever homes. They’re being fostered by Animal Assistance of Niagara, and they’ll be on display at an adoption event soon. If you’re interested in adopting one of these sweeties, contact the Animal Assistance Society of Niagara.

It is with profound sadness that we inform the clients and friends of Garden City Cat Hospital of the passing of Luigi, our clinic greeter, on July 21, 2020. Luigi came to us a diabetic cat, and we managed his diabetes and gave him a worry-free life filled with lots of love and attention. Sadly, he developed chronic inflammatory bowel disease 3 years ago. Those years of living with chronic disease ultimately took their toll, and his body began to fail over the spring/summer w...hile we were in lockdown. Ultimately, the difficult but appropriate decision was made to not allow suffering, and instead have him pass over the Rainbow Bridge to the next life. Our hearts are broken, and we’re especially sorry that, because of Covid, the many people who knew and loved him didn’t have a chance to say goodbye. But we know he’s now pain-free and purring away somewhere happy and safe. Donations in his memory can be made to the Animal Assistance Society of Niagara. Sincerely, Dr. Chivers and staff. See more

A big shout out to our clients, Margo and Jim, for donating a bottle of locally-produced hand sanitizer! This one smells great, and were pleased it was made at a local distillery.

Were hoping everyone is keeping safe and healthy during this challenging time. We want to remind you that we are here for you, continuing to provide care for your precious cats. As we all know, cats are the masters of disguise, so its always best to be one step ahead, before a critical illness takes hold. Its also important to remember that its spring, and that means fleas and ticks. As such, outdoor cats need to start their flea and tick prevention now. Its also import...ant to keep in mind that, in case you need to self isolate for 14 days, we recommend you have enough food and medication to last for that duration of time. Please dont hesitate to schedule an appointment anytime you have a need or concern. Also, we offer phone appointments, so if you cant or prefer not to leave the house, you have the option to schedule a phone appointment. To decrease physical contact during this time, we ask you to consider using e-transfer or credit card for payment. Note: Our Saturday hours are now 9:00 a.m. - noon. For those of you who are coming to the hospital, please see the video below for details about what to expect when you arrive. https://twitter.com/OntVetCollege/status/1245344256203599873

Dear GCCH family: The health of our clients, staff, and pets is always our top priority. As such, we have elected to reschedule all routine appointments for the next two weeks. This includes annual exams and vaccines, routine surgeries, weigh-ins, nail trims,...Continue reading

Calling all cat lovers! These three kitties are up for adoption. Mama (Lily) is a calico, approximately 18 months. She is very calm and loving. She seems to want nothing more than a little affection, a roof over her head, and food. Even though she was an outdoor cat, she has absolutely no interest in going back outside. Next up are the kittens; Archie, an orange male tabby and Pumpkin, an orange female tabby. Ideally, I want these two to go together, or have confirmed homes f...or both before giving up either. They are both extremely affectionate and easy going. Archie has a little hernia from birth, its quite common and easily fixed during the neuter surgery. All three cats have had their initial vet visit, including shots, dewormer and flea/mites treatment. To cover these costs, the adoption fee for each kitty is $100. If youre interested in adopting one of these kitties, contact Garden City Cat Hospital, and well put you in touch with the foster mom. If you cant adopt, but want to help, please share this post. Lets find these kitties their forever homes!
