Bravo to Ottawa school boards for having a focus of art within schools. See article below about STEAM #ocsbSTEAM week where Art is encouraged and practical ideas are shared to support any child’s learning in the Arts! #ocsbsteam #navanfineartsgroup #artforkids #613art https://www.ocsb.ca/2021//25/all-about-the-arts-steam-week/

WIP - I’m deciding on what type of fibre or mixed media to use on her dress, seaglass, moss or maybe sea creatures or a combo of all above. More to follow in coming weeks. #612art #ottawaartist #seaglassart #womanart #bernadettealcocksculptures #navanfineartsgroup

Hope everyone is enjoying this summer weather or being busy and creative. This summer I’ve invested in some art lessons with Carly Covey from Hidden Daisy Fine Art Studio and I’m working towards new 2D art. Final touches will be applied in next week. #summer2020vibes #2dart #bernadettealcocksculptures #navanfineartsgroup #ottawaartist #hiddendaisyfineartstudio

Happy Canada Day everyone! I created this felt art piece a number of years ago. My inspiration was the Canada 150th tulip in 2017. This tulip was developed in the Netherlands and is white with red flames and bears a striking resemblance to the Canadian Flag. Have a great day! #canadaday2020 #canada150tulip #ottawaarts #feltart #navanfineartsgroup

I have been nominated by Pat Imai for the 7 day art challenge, thanks Pat, this made me put my thinking cap on:) Day 7 - Fabric Sculptures. Although I no longer have Breezy, in my collection, I know she is in a fabulous forever home. Have you ever created a certain piece and after parting with it, you think, darn why didn’t I keep it? But deep down, I know it’s best to move on as it encourages me to create something new. Speaking of new, I’d like to nominate my friend Kathy Nadeau, new artist to show us what she has created, this lady has talent, can’t wait for her to show us her fabulous pieces:) #kathynadeau #paverpolcanada #oaverpolsculptures #patimai #bernadettealcocksculptures #navanfineartsgroup

I have been nominated by Pat Imai for the 7 day art challenge Day 6 - Fused Glass Art. I’m always interested in trying new mediums. Together with some friends (a year ago) we visited Da Artisti Studio & Gallery in Cumberland to be taught how to create 9x9 beautiful pieces of framed art with a backlight. My advice, try it with your favourite colours, you’ll love it! I believe my artist friend Wendy Jacques, owner of studio has many gems to share with us. So I nominate her today. #wendyjacques #dartististudioandgallery #fusedglassart #dartisti #bernadettealcocksculptures #navanfineartsgroup

I have been nominated by Pat Imai for the 7 day art challenge. Day 3 - See below for 2D Art using repurposed tshirts, fabrics and clay. In these pieces you will note that I like the use of negative space. It is an important element of design which enables the objects to balance between positive and negative spaces as an aesthetic composition and to focus the viewer on the key element of the art piece. Today I nominate Lise Butters:) #lisebutters #paverpolcanada #2dart #negativespace #paverpoltransparent #bernadettealcicksculptures #navanfineartsgroup

I have been nominated by Pat Imai (Stone Sculptor) for the 7 day art challenge and was asked to nominate another artist to do the same. Day 2 - 2D Art - Yesterday I mentioned my love of 2D art. Below are some of the 2D pieces I created by means of needle felting and button art using recycled buttons. Upcycling, recycling, and repurposing objects to create art fascinate and challenge me. Today I nominate Wendo, handmaiden Canada whom introduced me to world of needle felting. #patimai #wendo #wendohandmaidencanada #buttonart #recyclereuserepurpose #upcyclingart #needlefelting #navanfineartsgroup

My father loved hummingbirds and my parents were Kashubian so I created this special Flower Planter Kashubian Hummingbird (which is larger than typical hummingbird says hubby, Kasubians think big I told him:). Did you know that each of the Kasubian 7 embroidery traditional colours are inspired by nature. Yellow=Sun and Sand, Green=Forests and Meadows, Red=Heart and Love, Black=Earth and there are 3 shades of Blue. Dark Blue=Baltic Sea, Medium Blue=Kasubian Lakes and Light Blue=Sky. #kashubian #kashubianembroidery #wilno #gardendecor #wilnoheritagepark #hummingbird #paverpolcanada #paverpoltransparent #paverpol #bernadettealcocksculptures

It’s been hummingbird week for me - 12 are in the queue. Did you know that the hummingbird symbolizes joy, being more present, lifting up negativity and resiliency. Interesting that this is the week I was driven to create them. Painting and varnishing next, stay tuned! #paverpolcanada #paverpol #hummingbirdart #hummingbird #stayhome #ottawaarts #navanfineartsgroup
