Have you met our in-house COFFEE ENGINEER yet? Cole Assman (pronounced "Ozzmun" and distantly related to Dick) is an ACTUAL WIZARD when it comes to all things audio. We are lucky to have him around the studio on the regular. Graduating with honours from The Recording Arts Institute of Saskatoon, he never misses a detail when maintaining, using, and choosing the gear for each project. He makes sure every sonic opportunity is used to make your audio sound incredible.... He's currently a broadcast audio engineer at CTV Saskatoon and works out of our studios as a freelance audio engineer. He rolls with companies like PR Productions, Tri Sonic Sound, and can be seen behind the faders as FOH engineer for artists like Brody Siebert, Justin LaBrash Singer/Songwriter, and Brock Andrews. Book him while you can and he'll make you a great cup of coffee.

Big shiny condenser mics are definitely fun, but sometimes a trusty old dynamic standby can capture some amazing results. Our SM7Bs and RE20 are getting some good use these days. What are your current go-to or all time favourite mics?

Like many in the music industry, we paused our actions on Tuesday. Not to be silent but to discuss, reflect, listen and learn. These efforts NEED to happen to support our BIPOC communities, understand internalized and systemic racism. DAILY. Our hearts and feelings can be in the right place but our brains have been programmed by passivity, broken systems and shitty leadership. We NEED to recognize how this lives in the subconscious and own up to it. We MUST practise DAILY to break this down. Unfortunately, it takes a televised loss of life and a global protest to get this into people's heads. We all must recognize that this isn't a single occurance. We need to learn (a ton) before we can unlearn. While we know it's not enough, we will stand by you, listen to you, learn from you, and AMPLIFY your black voice.
