We need black Muslimah joy, black Muslimah voices, to tell our stories on our own terms. Share with anyone you think may benef...it. ***PLEASE SHARE WIDELY*** ... Program Description: Stellar (R)evolution is an eight-part workshop series that engages black Muslimah youth ages 18-25 in exploring identity through spoken word poetry, playwriting, and theatre. This series will be delivered as part of SPARK Cultural Hotspot programming in Toronto's East York community. Through the series, we will engage in critical storytelling to explore identity through poetry and theatre as a way of deepening self-awareness, connecting to community, healing, and taking back our stories. Each participant will have the opportunity to contribute to a showcase performance debuting original spoken word infused plays as well as have work published in an anthology documenting works emerging from the series. Participants will also have the opportunity to be featured guest performers at the Children's Peace Theatre's Project Future showcase 'Languages of the Land' on September 22nd 2017. *This is a FREE workshop series.
