The story behind " Grandma Feeding The Cats" When I was a little girl, I went to my grandparent's house, in the time they used to separate the milk from the cre...am in a separator. My grandmother used to take the leftover foam milk from the separator and feeds the cats. As my sibling and I walked behind her, my grandmother would repeatedly say in a french and loud voice: "Pussy, pussy, pussy" several times. The cats in many different colours would come from the shed, the barn, from beneath the house and , behind a cord of wood or just from hiding wherever that may have been. Grandmother poured this foam milk in a big tub and the cats surrounded it for a feed. This picture kept in my head all these years and I always wanted to paint it. When I started carving, I decided to challenge myself by carving it instead on a piece of cottonwood bark. I could not resist adding a black and white feline climbing to the top after a robin and its eggs as if to say: " I want a better meal." See more
