In times of stress and unrest, Psalm 23 has an uncanny way of speaking God’s peace and rest to our souls. Have you ever wondered what David was getting at as he wrote vs.4? your rod and your staff, they comfort me. They’re the tools of the shepherd to draw the sheep to himself, and to keep predators away. ... Picture the scriptures in the same way today. We don’t exactly see God physically present with us, with tangible tools to pull us in but He did provide 66 books collected and preserved together for our benefit! As you read and engage with scripture this coming week, picture the Bible as God’s rod and staff His tools to draw you to Himself, and to protect you. Jesus says in John 6:44, No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws Him. May you today, and in the days to come while we are still yet distanced and separated from each other may you experience the nearness of the Lord as you read His word, and get drawn into Him through it! We encourage you to find a quiet space within your day, and engage with God’s word in order to fill and nourish your soul! In the first chapter of the book of John, Jesus is gathering together His first group of disciples. He had just invited Philip to, follow Me! Then Philip was talking with Nathanael, who doubted that anything good could come from Nazareth suggesting that there was no way that the Messiah who Moses wrote about, and the one whom the Prophets prophesied about would come from such a lowly place. Philips response is just amazing: Come and see. (John 1:46 / t.ly/zU5M) ... In other words, come and see for yourself. Check it out. Its worth it. This weekend finds itself as a rather significant turning point in many calendars and in this season it is more significant than many prior years. As we lift up in prayer our students, school administrators, staff, and teachers, let us remember Gods promises to us that when we come to Him in our tiredness, stress, and anxiety, He hears us, understands us, and replenishes us. Psalm 23:3 He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his names sake. J...eremiah 31:25 For I [God] will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish. 1 John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. Like jumping into a lake, or a glass of cool water on a hot day is good for the body, so the Word of God revives and replenishes our souls! Join our bible reading plan for the year.
