Happy International Women’s Day! Today I’m thinking of all the women farmers who grow amazing food for our communities. I’m especially inspired by the women of @amara_farm @whitakerfarm @raisedrightranch ... @pendleton_farm @littleacremarketgarden @theburrow_homestead @farmed.and.foraged And all of the other women working in farming and agriculture in the Comox Valley and around the world. Thank you for all that you do. See more

We grew a small plot of corn last year to test making our own corn flour. Here you can see the colourful kernels, the result of hand milling to a course flour, which was then soaked and baked into what my daughter named Confetti Corn Bread. There is something magical about eating food grown by your own hands and then it is amplified to enjoy it in winter. This corn bread accompanied chili made from our own beans, tomatoes, onion, garlic, carrots and herbs. Food therapy for a ...frozen snowy winter day. The beautiful bowl cover from @yourgreenkitchen fits perfectly on a square pan And yes, I’m very very grateful. #growyourown #eatlocal #buylocal #comoxvalley #comoxvalleyfarms #comoxvalleyfood #lowwaste #femalefarmer
